RE: Brexiteers must be happy now as...21 Dec 2018 11:35
Hi Snige.
On its own, Brexit was certain to have short/medium term headwinds. No one with a reasonable level of intellect would say That would not happen. That much is a given.
However, had David Cameron put serious thought into what the consequences of calling the referendum would be if, as we had voted out and then put some kind of contingencies in place, then, there would have been some kind of starting point in place as to what the next steps might be. But he didn't. He just gambled on a foregone conclusion that we would overwhelmingly vote to remain inside the EU.
So what does he do, he does not deal with the fact that his massive gamble has not paid off, instead, he immediately runs away like a coward, leaving Theresa May to clear up the mess. This is the only thing I personally feel sorry for her for.
That said, if she was.stronger willed, she could have used this to make a massive name for herself in the history books by getting her team together and planned an efficient and orderly exit then started to immediately execute those plans.
As I've said in the short to medium term, there will have been turbulence, but this will have subsided once a clear, set of plans have been put into place.
But she hasn't, she's talked the talk over seems to have done little else.
You asked Tell me which one would have crashed us out on WTO?
The WTO is there for all to use, and works well for all those concerned. As I've said in my previous post, I accept that these things take time to set up, but equally, the long term gain to our economy has to be worth the work.
Regards,
Trent.
