I think it's rather odd that this fella has remained silent on the comments left on here by myself, Barchid, LordAdam and of course Fairdealer. I did expect some kind of public response on here relating to our findings & observations, but there's been absolutely nothing.

I've taken the stance from this that I share Fairdealer's point that he is possibly stirring the pot to serve some kind of agenda.

Perhaps some kind of comment from Chris to clarify his position might be helpful.

On a different note, I think this carp weather is going to have some negative impact on proceedings come the next set of results. No one being able to get to the pub in flooded areas blah blah blah.

Lets hope those effected get back on track asap with minimal disruption though.

Not really mate. The nearest Asda is miles away from our house. It would have cost me a fiver to get there & back on the bus, whereas Morrisons is only up the road. Swings & roundabouts and all that.

Just been to Morrison's and got myself a few Hobgoblin Gold. 4 for £6 bargain. Should be nice & chilled for tea time. I feel as though I've earned my tipple this week.

You seem to have gone to a lot of effort into uncovering a lot of detail. Certainly a lot more than I did, and I'm grateful to you for sharing this.

When I spoke to CW on Monday, I started he call with an open mind, willing to give him a fair hearing to see what he had to say. I was on the one with his for just over 23 minutes. As I've said previously, I got the distinct impression that he was unfairly targeting Marston's. He was quite heavy on he suggestion that this story was a lot blacker than it actually was, which I would have accepted if he was able to provide solid evidence of examples which I could have researched and verified independently for myself. As I've previously stated, he was either unable or unwilling to provide any such information. In fact, I got the impression he was attempting to swerve providing anything. This was the point I had made my mind up that this seemed to be a load of ball locks. His was why I conducted the searches that I did.

The more I see about this chap, the more I'm convinced that he has some kind of agenda, and his word is not to taken at face value.

As far as I'm concerned, he can shove his opinions where a monkey shoves it's nuts.

You some interesting points. Some that I had missed to be fair. It's often good to have posters lurking in the background observing proceedings. It's the "out of step" approach, which is a good thing, because you get to trample on the bits that everyone else misses.

Yes thats a possibility. Its best not to expose yourself to unnecessary risk. We'll see how this works out. Hopefully nothing will come of it and we can move on.

Yes, I'm afraid to say that while RF's response was quite rapid, he hasn't really said anything new in this matter. Approx 1 month has passed since this story hit us, and he has made no comment on any further developments in this case. That being the case, why did he not add a note saying as much. I get that he is busy and has other things to do, but that said, simply cutting and pasting a previous response is just lazy to me.

I've said before that up until this point, I had never had to contact him foranything, but the first time I do and that's the response I get???

I'll be watching how this works out I think. On the plus side, the SP is up, so the markets are not overly concerned.

Well here's the thing. I spent 8 years working on a loans team for a bank.

With this, came speaking to underwriters quite a bit of the time. One of the things that this has taught me is how to question the detail.

A valuable lesson to us all, I think.

I'm afraid I don't know if he is an ex employee or not. He made no reference as to ever working for Marston's at all in any capacity.

As I say, there was the suggestion that there were "Hundreds" of complaints either historic or active. Again, I did do a Google search to see if any such cases had been logged, but no results came back, so I cannot say with any degree of accuracy weather or not there are or have been any such actions being taken against Marston's or anyone else for that matter.

Another observation I made as well was that in the case of Mr Anderson, this appeared to be the only case in this matter that was searchable on the internet. I did expect to see reports of similar cases involving landlords/tenants linked to other breweries experiencing the same kind of issues,but again I found nothing. This case did return a number of results saying the same thing, so this does look to be a completely verified story, so I don't think he is making it up.

That said, I do not see this as an issue specific to Marstons. I would expect other breweries to also be aware of this issue.

This is just an impression that I have about the chap. I could well be way off the mark, but I'm just not sure enough that this is all that it appears to be.

That said, I have seen no supporting documentation from Marston's stating that procedures have been put into place to stop this issue from occurring in the future.

If this has not happened as yet, I think it needs to be addressed as a matter of some urgency so as to minimize the risk to the business of future potential unnecessary cost and bad publicity to the company.

The next thing on this, was the response I got from RF. I did email him with the outcome of the phone call from Chris, explaining what was said and my concerns. He was very quick to respond and his explanation did look to be quite credible and plausible. But a more detailed look into what he said, did look to be a copy & paste from the original comments he had made at the time of this incident being referred to the regulatory body. I had hoped for a more detailed response from him, especially as the issue had occurred some months before.
