Interesting how we all think Italy will go next. That's 3 of us now!

And of course, a supermarket voucher for the beer of choice goes to the holder(s) of the member state when it is announced on the news that they have put themselves up for their "Brexit".

Just for a bit of fun, I'm starting a "Eurolottery".

This is to test the sheep mentality within other EU state members that choose to have their own version of Brexit now that we demonstrated how easy (eventually) it was for us to leave.

The idea is for holders/posters here to pick a member state that they think will be next to hold their own referendum to go.

Here are the rules.

- The Country must commit to leaving following whatever rules and procedures
they have or put in place to leave.

- There is no time limit on that Country's departure. But they must demonstrate a
willingness to leave.

- Once a Country has been chosen by any participant on the board, that Country has
been taken. Other players must choose a different contender. In the event of any
countries still unchosen on the closing date, they can be taken up by those in the
game until all member states have been taken up. One at a time to give everyone
a fair chance to load up.

- In order to maintain fairness, only one Country can be chosen by a player until it is
established that no other players want to participate. Shall we allow until
01/03/20 to allow time for participants to decide if they want to play.

If I may be so bold, I'd like to start the ball rolling by choosing Italy.

If it wasn't for my bathroom being Fcuked and having to get sorted out, I'd have had a couple of grand to spend on another "Cheeky top up".

Still. Schit happens. Pointless getting upset about it. This is a good profitable company which seems well run. It's just a shame (or a blessing if you're looking to add to your holding) that we are unjustly out of favour with the markets. It's not as if we are in the same position as flybe or Thomas Cook were are we.

This morning. 152 additional shares in my humble portfolio.

Mine hasn't gone in as yet. No doubt it'll be there some time today, unless of course it's already been sent off to buy my DRIP shares. I've got about £166 coming my way, so today's little drop in SP is welcome news to me, - a few extra shares will be made more than welcome.

I don't really see the wage rise as an issue. This is sort of a positive thing.

This effects every businese , they all have to comply with this. So the simple thing to do is to increase prices slightly to accommodate this additional cost. An extra 2p on every single pint sold isn't really going to make much of a difference, especially on a Friday, Saturday night when you've had a couple already.

Plus the extra free income employees have in their wage packet, (yes, I'm that old) is going to be spent somewhere. I imagine that some of that is coming our way as a discretionary spend. So it's not as bad as it seems at first glance.

I hate it when this share does this to me.

I've offloaded my Lloyd's shares (partly to pay off the renovations to our bathroom & had enough left over to fund another of my "Cheeky top ups".

I really do hope this is the last ever drop in SP, or the little old lady over the road might be getting a few unwelcome visits from me :-)

Don't forget too, of course it's dividend day on Monday. If, like myself you reinvest it this too is a result.

This (unwarranted) crash in my view really couldn't have come at a better time from my perspective as if it holds at this price until after my DRIP has kicked in, then it's a good result for me.

I'm not sure what it is either. Whatever point you are missing, it eludes me as well.

I just wish I had a stash of cash under my mattress, I'd be putting it to work here without a second's thought. It would be mad not to.

Yes, this update seems to have gone down like a lead fart, doesn't it.

I think the point about the minimum wage increase is a bit of a mixed bag though.

Ok, there's the additional cost to wages for the company, but that said, it's the same scenario for ever other business. The good thing about that is that an employee has a little more free income, they'll spend it sokehow. Hopefully some of that comes our way when they go to one of our pubs.

I think now would be a good time to dump my Lloyds shares to put some of it in here.

Re: I have to however agree they are getting pricey now, checked them out for a flight to Malaga, not paying that, looked at a rival, same flight times within 15 mins and less than half the price.
They need to reign it in a bit.

Here's the thing, I had the opposite scenario.

I looked at booking our holiday to Kalamaki in Greece with TUI last week. They wanted £4136 for the @rse end of the season. Last year, they charged £3072 for the exact same hotel, for almost exactly the same time.

On the back of that,I went on Jet2's website. A B&B in the same area. Literally just around the corner, same time of year, but just a day's difference. We're going on the Saturday instead of the Friday. - £2983.

No prizes for guessing which I chose.

So maybe Jet2 are in for a surge in bookings this year, with the demise of Thomas Cook & TUI trying it on. Fingers crossed for a busy & profitable year for shareholders here.

I agree, it's crazy. I don't understand how they justify it, I really don't. We go to Kalamaki in Greece every year & usually go to the same hotel, (The Roseland) and to be fair prices with them have fluctuated slightly over the years and had not really minded paying a reasonable amount over the odds. The prices over the past couple of years had been between £3000 - £3200.

I looked to book that hotel last week for the back end of the season for that reason, the cost. For this year, they wanted slightly north of £4100 for it, no way was I paying that, so looked at a hotel I'm familiar with just round the corner with J2.

And as per my previous post, just slightly South of £3000. A fortune saved, job done.

Not from my point of view they haven't. I've booked this year's Greece holiday with Jet2 this year because of TUI's greed.

TUI wanted £1000 more for our holiday than they charged us last year.

Jet 2 came in with a b&b slightly South of £3000 for the 4 of us. Mad not to.
