Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
I like you style - this is a good business - top of its game but getting involved in hiring to many people with fancy job titles - look at the new CEO’s history. The previous CEO HAD IT RIGHT.
This new CEO is not here for long. The new distribution centre! Massive investment but what happens if there’s a major incident - fire/flood/strike - no back up site. Northampton was a waste of space - wrong location, should have been Newbury M4 corridor. But hey what do I know only was in logistics for 50years plus.
Things don’t change!!
When they first opened Stoke NDC - there was chaos - huge distribution problems - systems didn’t work - management were sacked.
When the opened Northampton DC - similar problems - management from Stoke that were sent to ensure smooth opening - failed - sacked.
So they never learn but we have new management! Without experience.
They will eventually get it running smoothly - let’s hope the floor doesn’t fail on this one.
Will the the CEO succeed? I doubt it, the company is slowly loosing its path, look at all the fancy new job titles with new managers - this is a retail business not a media bussiness.
Change is what’s it’s about - the current CEO is leaving having done a bloody good job - but why is he leaving? Does he think it’s peaked.
Also the director in charge of the veterinary business is also leaving and will be a hard position to fill - hence why they brought her back in the first instance.
They are also planning to move to a much larger distribution - this can be a difficult move, I also hear they are looking to outsource their trucking fleet once again having brought it in house to save buttons.
Interesting time ahead I think
Interesting - Look at the detail- the current Chairperson of Redde Northgate I
Has previously been chairperson of British Car Auctions/Reede and Northgate so the selling of Reede Northgate to part of the BCA group makes sense.
A deal at £6 plus is good in my view - bring it on.
personally I can’t see this going anywhere, I’ve watch it for years, only did any good when they got involved with garden centres, then they were sold.
I live locally to them an watch with interest, they are a Good solid company, always looking for drivers. They don’t sparkle or attract like Stobart etc.
Yes the ship has certainly sailed under a new flag - to a company that understands the business and the silly rates war may come to an end - I don’t think so. At least there’s no financial blood bath. Full marks to Dbay for dressing this business for sale/transfer, however you’ve done it many times before.
Truthfactory - well done for sticking to your guns.
Bon Voyage
This is an investment company not an operating business - therefore Stobart Logistics that this business owns 49% will report its owns commercials announcements differently to its own investors - we will not be involved with the commercials decisions of the Lodistics business.
I still believe it’s all smoke and mirrors and there will feel a big tumble at some stage!!!
