It's interesting looking through the list of the funding awards. Space X got most of it but I don't see how you deliver reliable rural location access from low earth orbit. They could use a single access point like a tower then a distribution like Tarana saving the real satellite advantage for mobile broadband like boat, RV etc as long as there's no trees.
There are lots of WIsPs on the list at 1bn or around. Some have stated cable or fibre but many have also stated wireless. I suspect that most will use Tarana.
Interesting that Steven Glapa at Tarana says that they have 100's of Wisps queueing for their equipment from Tarana. Such is the problem that they are selecting a distributor to deal with these smaller deployments.
This is what he had to say
"We can’t build the gear fast enough. The sales pipeline has 70+ solid prospects in it (not counting hundreds of small WISPs we’re putting off till we can close on our first distributor deal in process), with 25 broadband operators in queue for pilot deployments, a good handful of which have multi-million subscriber potential like MTN. We’re assembling an event for press, analysts, and select prospects in early October to give our early-adopter customers an opportunity to share how G1 is transforming their businesses"
The Ethernity part may be small to Tarana but from the Ethernity side it's huge. 2022 I will be shocked if revenue is less than $5m from this side play deal. Last year total revenue less than $2m. Now major markets are opening up for Ethernity. Short term the prospects will change very quickly. I think that once it moves it will keep on going this time
