What you need to remember is these guys were developing fpga NICs 14 years before IPO, patents extend over 10 years. All that time ago they could see the value. Ethernity to them is not about money. They won't be working for a faceless corporation. The products are constantly evolving and that's a result of 17 years experience leading this industry. Lose that and they won't lead.
It is important to grasp the value of the patented concept that allows the fpga based NIC to be loaded with function.
Brian spoke of hollow and empty NICs, Ethernity flow processors work on these, in fact the ACEnic-100 is the same until ethernity loads data functionality to the shell.
The interviewer to Brians irritation spoke of using Ethernity as a aftermarket product. Yes it can but only if the go for a fpga based SmartNIC then not deploy it. Ethernity can't stop the likes of BT throwing away the plug in single use proprietary boxes in a couple years when they become obsolete.
Brian is right that Private networks will be the first deployed. These are really the test bed and the bulk of the market.
OEMs, Integrators and Telecom will sell the ACEnic-100 family and the array of Telecom focused Ethernity products as a byproduct of their solutions. The sales will start to come in within a couple of months and in 6-9 months volume will grow.
This will result in a substantial newsflow.
