Good news from Moderna/Merck - but it's a vaccine personalised and in combo with Keytruda which might "boost survival rates by nearly half".

"Moderna and Merck said the jab – mRNA-4157/V940 – when combined with the drug Keytruda, led to a 44 per cent reduction in the risk of the cancer returning compared with Keytruda alone in patients with stage three and four melanoma."

Alan Melcher, professor of translational immunotherapy at the ICR, said: " these are still early results and we have not seen the full data yet. The trial is relatively small and the benefits of vaccines against melanoma and potentially other cancers need to be further tested in larger trials and other cancer types. It will also be important to see if the vaccine did indeed generate an immune response against the tumour, which I anticipate will be tested using tissue and blood samples collected from patients in this study."

I for one am hoping that Modify results in the mono therapy, can exceed these results and there is certainly room for optimism. If the next RNS discloses good results from the 3 Patients then the action here will be interesting indeed.

Krafty a great post and interesting insights . . . it has been a long haul as an LTH but my feeling is now that we are, 'so close and yet so far'. Scancell's portfolio looks incredible and we have some actual reports of amazing Modify progress to give substance to our hopes. The obvious bounce of Prof. Lindy at the AGM gives me further great confidence which is slowly turning into a conviction now - that we are on to a remarkable winner here. It's quite tantalising . . .

I am still amazed at the rate progress has picked up in the last year with the NHS etc. in such poor fettle and it's hard to pay sufficient tribute to Prof. Lindy and all in getting us to where we are now.

For me the blue touch paper is dry and ready and the matches are in hand. GLA

WTP - we know that the Patient was upset about that posting to Twitter and it's fair to guess we may not hear any more from her on MM, despite the apology. Her next scan is a further 12 weeks so there's nothing specific to come for a while anyway. We all wish her very well.

I sometimes watch with a critical eye, some of the updates from (Dr) JC. Without wishing to bring the World down around my ears again, it is sometimes worthwhile. His style has changed to the gently insidious (it's quite funny) but for me he does raise interesting points.

The new vaccination drive in China is to be centered on Sinopharm vaccine, (what happened to Sinovac), apparently a traditional 'dead virus' vaccine.

He wonders if Sinopharm might be more effective against a number of viral strains as it's not tailored to any one strain. But of course, it's not patentable. MRNA and viral vector vaccines are still not accepted in China, (except for Expats).

There's a nice shot of 'aspiration' of the dosing. Interesting on an idle Sunday.

But not so interesting as a Scancell RNS !! ATB

WTP - these alarming stories keep appearing . It seems to me that the present era of Covid vaxes is in truth, rather played out. Another concern, China has also 'unlocked' apparently with low levels of vaccination and God knows what variant is there. The pandemic is not over I'm afraid.

We don't hear much about the AZ vax these days and the MRNA vax are questioned re. myocarditis. I'm for the vax and have taken FOUR FGS but probably, no more for me, until something more relevant (2nd Gen), like Covidity, is available.

I do worry about the vax and children - mine are all grown up now but I would not have liked to have to take that decision at any time in the last two years! I'm sure I saw that vax for Babies 6 months + is being recommended somewhere.

Come on Covidity !!

Cleaner - I've seen that advert many times and it is touching indeed - but I'm not sure if the Lady's treatment was researched or paid for by CRUK money so might it be misleading. It tells us cancer is horrible, there are some triumphs with treatment but is that case relevant to CRUK? Maybe or maybe not. If not, it is dishonest.

Chippy - yes the CEO is on GBP 250 K which IMO is an absolute disgrace. CRUK is a Charity not a moneymaker. I expect that there are 100's of people who could have done this job for GBP 100 K very well. I haven't donated to this sort of Charity since 'Charity' became an industry as it is now IMO. CRUK is a great organisation BUT they DO NOT need to pay the CEO TWICE what the PM gets !!

IMMHO we are where we are and whilst I am delighted (as most of us), to learn of Trish's progress, it's sad to see that she is 'very anxious'.

Maybe, rather than just ducking it, someone, of a respected status as a poster here, say you or others, should post on MM and say, words to the effect that, she should concentrate on getting better, try not to worry and that the wonderful Scancell are big enough and ugly enough to look after themselves, (figuratively that is).

And that to a man or woman, we all care deeply about her story. Not just for the money.

A copy of Freedom's tweet about Trish landed with me first thing this morning. Yesterday I noticed that some posts had been moderated on MM. But this cat is well and truly out of the bag.

Trish had posted to Beesuit - "I thought that this forum was a place for supporting each other, not publicly sharing private conversations. If that is your tweet can I ask you to please remove it. I feel really anxious that it's been made so public without my consent."

The worst matter is Trish being, 'really anxious' and in fairness, some LSE Posters had earlier advised us of this danger.

I noticed Chilltime's post 1424 on PoG this morning - "It’s unusual to get such swift data in trials but the nature of how quickly Modi works and the target (tumour shrinkage) which makes it impossible to keep quiet."

I agree very much with that Chilltime, particularly with more than 100 Patients to be involved.

It's not good that Trish is feeling 'really anxious'. I don't suppose she bothers with this BB but I'd like to say, 'FGS don't worry Trish and just enjoy your recovery!'

There always seems to be striking coverage of advances in cancer treatments that are probably much less significant than Scancell have and I hope Scancell are ready to handle a lively wave of interest .
