Quick question, when EESL last changed direction to include RF did they say for all Smart meters or just the necessary ones. I apologise if I have put this question before but production numbers will soon need to be ramped up.

The fact is that after all this time, CC at the Roundtable remember, they are officially recognised as supporting EESL, who Colour was always going on about as not wanting CC. Times change, Colour does not.

He and jake know they are a waste of space. Notice how Colour has done a U turn on CC RF after all the ridiculing.
CC's alignment with EESL says volumes to me. Using them in Middle East etc for bids means to me that CC RF is acknowledged for its value as an agnostic comms link that can accommodate any manufacturers meter. Exactly what is needed because if you are going to use RF, it is speedy to install, efficient, covers distances etc. Any large installation is going to need 2 maybe 3 or 4 different meters for volume. The manufacturers all seem to be able to make the Smart Meters so it is just the comms that it problematic.
EESL now has CC on board officially so has probably got big plans for India.

Hello ITT.
This is the first tie up with EESL and that is significant. As we know the only real association has been the Roundtable with Intellismart (EESL). I feel sure this is the beginning of CC's RF involvement with EESL which could prove very rewarding.
Put your doubting Thomas to one side until we get further information. Look on the bright side.
The point is CC has officially been acknowledged by EESL which we all wanted.

Colour, reading your link again it's very interesting. There have been a lot of changes over the years and it looks like we are back to RF probably for the I-o-T element.
I wonder if that means all of their Smart installations will be NB-IoT.
We know that Connode was doing the North Mumbai for Reliance before we took them over so possibly there is a connection.
If India hopes to install 250m Smart in say 3 years it will really need an agnostic/independent RF like CC to cater for all of the major meter manufacturers. Do you know of anybody else who provides a working multi-platform that is not attached to a manufacturer.
I was also impressed with CC's Thailand win when they said it outshone all other contenders.

I agree Colour, there is something in the wind but the longer it takes the bigger the risk.
You have the 2 elements, CC can to an end-to-end job or a supply only for 'notspots' etc.
If they got the full monty on the current Indian contracts, 20m units and a bash at remaining units, say 20m plus Thailand etc etc. that is my 50m ish units covered. Not that easy I know.
In my view the great advantage CC has is being Agnostic, most other manufacturers will have a need for 'notspots' in great or small numbers. If they can get it on the cheap and possibly 'labelled' to them then they can profess to have the solution.

I can see your direction Colour but this is India, said so many times before, and nothing goes at speed. Plus Grids are often influenced by Governments. Many industries like aerospace take years to finalise contracts and CC is only a Sub.
I think much of the current contracts is a spin-off of Indore, who started making money from the word go.
Big firms like Trilliant have not achieved much in India, only doing Head-End for EESL, considering how vast the opportunity is.
If CC get 20% of the entire 250m units (50m), including the ones like JVVNL already running then I think that would be a very good result especially if they achieved anything like 1m units = £20m.

Well Colour I think we are looking in the same direction.
The current contracts appear to be on firm ground so it only takes one of your suggestions to push it well on its way.
Falling back on JC's estimate for previous orders of nearly 1m units equaling £19m.
If we got all of present order Utilities in full then we could be looking at £19m X 20m units. Say £380m.
Now that is truly fag packet calculations but not impossible and just with existing Utilities.
You never know after all this time.

The thing is Colour, we do not know when the bulk of these orders are placed, suppose a Government Dept clears them once a year in line with the budget.
If this was the case I would now expect some breakaways with OPEX coming to the fore. Before it was dependent on Government loans and approvals. As I see it following Mysore we now have a case for 'put them in, in haste as everyone is an earner for Utility concerned. With our existing contract Utilities having possibly 20m customers between them I see good scope for them wanting to convert their whole areas. Now that would be 'Sticky'.
