Lots of other info out there on LPWAN, now cost-effective and fully tested, gaining interest with governments (eg. temperature monitoring sensors of public, ambulances on the move ...), Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure IOT cloud .

I've been rewarded doing some background reading on Nanomerics and I'd be interested to know how the collaboration came about (overlapping synergies?). Was it simply a cold-call or something more interesting? I note that directors from both companies had stints in Glasgow in the past. Cheers.

They looked alright. Not many companies on Mouser do SMD supercaps. AVX and TDK do, Kemet and Elna also; all quite clunky. AVX's Bestcap is theirs, TDK's is actually the prismatic all along. SMD is defined as their termination style. I can see the potential here, or have I gone mad?
Twenty or so manufacturers of the SMT boards: eg. Nordson, Fuji, Panasonic. Mycronic illustrate well future electronics on their website.
Never see any Russian companies; their own secret markets maybe.

Its been interesting to read about patents. They appear valuable for innovation, that governments will enforce in law. I havent read why governments make laws that say it's good to do so, but I did read about an example of the sewing machine that has many components (up to 100) each which has a patent. this machine (which changed the world) started off with one invented patent. other manufacturers could copy this patent and make an inferior machine but they didnt, they invented other components, and by giving them patents too, improved the machine and made it what it is today.
IMO Musk is attempting to be utilitarian, which is always fine in principle, but it can kill innovation. If a best-in-class invention can be hurriedly copied and made inferior by that process, it will hinder innovation from elsewhere.
