supercaps are for battery-free applications, fit and forget in the main. sure theres been developments elsewhere in batteries (if they can control materials) which has opened up additional new applications. i'd be more than interested if Graham, or anyone, could tell of the battery products he knows that are a threat to cpx's core business, hello!

Atmosic have a module similar to e-peas which harvests energy either to a supercap, the "battery free" option, or to a rechargeable battery called "forever battery" or the standard battery, now called "extended battery" (eg; something like the new murata CRs extended temp and energy ones, under license). Apparently murata's customers only had a stored inventory for 6 to 9 months of product, so imagine they are shopping again. YE20 results talked of some potential that would surpass manufacturing capacity. Better strengthen that customer service department too.

Just off topic, crazy to imagine if the UK alone goes net zero emissions 2050 it'll need "two times the (2018) total annual world cobalt production, nearly the entire world production of neodymium, three quarters the world’s lithium production and at least half of the world’s copper production" during 2018, leaving little remaining for anybody else.

Hence the supercap to ameliorate, all there is, carbon, a bit of aluminium and some salty goo. I have been keeping an eye in the rear view mirror for any other chemistries, solid state etc, developments there but no way yet able to supply the peak power that makes supercaps best suited to the applications cpx list.

Frac's link is a patent description about biosensors, spire healthtag is one. specifically graphene oxide enhanced electrode supercapacitors that get SMALLER and smaller and , to enable Point of Care monitoring, in vivo if required. What sort of market do you want for new technology?
Graphene will make the caps more flexible.

cpx mentioned that they are only interested in bespoke auto powertrain modules, not the wide market, they say other companies in competition there. non powertrain applications yes anywhere, car heating, wipers, locks.
regarding the former, someone like sono motors might be a good fit.

University of Manchester, where the two Russian fellas invented the stuff, have a tie-up with First Graphene Ltd, a manufacturer in Western Australia, the only company in the world who has regulatory approval to sell it by the tonne to Europe and Australia.
