Yeah, many UK retailers are taking a hammering.

Keep buying if you can afford too, once this is back over 100p you'll be thinking why didn't I take that opportunity to take an easy 20-30% profit, assuming everything goes well.

Branding on point, products on offer are great.

staffing levels are high, over 500 job vacancies currently available within JD Sports Fashion PLC.

If you cut 100 of these roles that's a saving of anywhere between £1.5 million to £4 million.

Published yesterday (May 28 2024), Boots UK Limited’s annual report and financial statement revealed that the company made an operating profit of £88 million for the year ending August 31 2023.

If Boots are worth £7.8bn in a takeover bid on operating profit of £88 million then we're worth about £80bn yeah?

I love JD.

It’s continued to grow, and provide growth, year after year.

It has room to expand the online business (only 22% of sales are online?)

It has room to reduce the number of staff on each site (huge savings)

It has much more potential for more US/worldwide expansion.

I just came out of a JD store, quite a few people buying trainers at £100-£160 a pair, I was sat next to them; whilst my partner was trying on new Nikes.

I counted 12 members of staff on the shop floor, far too many, I noticed they seem to be doing a JD “ Bingo “ where they need to change a return into an exchange, upsell, promote gift cards, etc etc - a way to encourage staff to do better.

If you look at their LinkedIn they are very active and new stores are opening weekly if not every few days. Their business grafting!

I’d hate to even consider shorting this right now, it 50% down in months, it makes £900+ million in profits, soon to be £1bn.

It’ll be a takeover target at these levels, or we’ll bounce back overnight, within the coming days, weeks, months, or years.
