Just visited the Merthyr store, great selection of new products, far too many staff.

That £30m extra staffing costs for NI isn’t gonna matter, hugely overstaffed which gives plenty of room for restructuring and cost savings across the group.

The £30m NI and cost of living will be fine.

You simply do a freeze on in-store recruitment and don’t replace one person per store. The extra £30m works out at roughly £10,000 extra costs per store at 3,000 stores (we’ve got 5,000 ofc but a lot of these stores aren’t effected by this as we’re worldwide)

You also need to understand that the younger people who are getting these pay rises are our target audience who therefore will have more disposable income, which hopefully they spend with us online or instore.

Has anyone know if planing has been approved for our new HQ? If so that’ll be great news and I don’t believe we own the three offices in Bury that make up our head offices. So even more savings once that’s wrapped up.

I suppose it’s like Tesco, they own One Stop, Premier, Bookers, Makro. It could work… tbh JD are opening some huge stores in the next 12 months so I’ll be expecting revenue to hit £12bn/£14bn within the coming years, so do we want a buy out, mmmmm.

I’m holding for 150p, and I’ll go from there :)

JD Sports x Nike

I know this is an old link, but to me Nike seems to be the perfect business to offer a takeover bid for JD Sports…. JD know how to run stores, they have a huge presence in America and worldwide; Nike could control the whole process… £8-£10bn would take JD Sports, Nike is worth $107bn… pennies to take over JD in reality.

I was in Caernarfon, North Wales on Sunday.

Cotswolds yesterday, I’m currently between the Cotswolds and Oxford at this moment in time, before I head back to South Wales later today.
