I totally understand this.
I have both shares, IGG on and off since 2012 luckily was out before the huge drop in December 2016 when the FCA announced the leverage restrictions on non professional clients. Currently I am up 10% not including divs and my PLUS holding is up 106% not including divs having held bought and sold since 2017.
PLUS has also suffered some huge drops and I consider it it be a bit more risky than IGG, also it is Israeli domiciled and carries a 20% WHT on dividends that take an eternity to pay out.

Dividend chasers don't forget the dividend is subject to a 15% withholding tax as it's based in Luxembourg, which is why you pay no stamp duty on purchases.
No longer invested here, but was back in January and sold when the war started for break even. These prices look tempting for re-entry.

Shell can still 'go green' based on revenue and profits from elsewhere.
If the oil price declines and North sea becomes unprofitable at the high taxation rate then that will be the first to be mothballed and or decommissioned so the UK gov will get no more money.
Bet your life Sunak will be rolling back on the windfall tax then.

Do we know if it tax on North sea profits or global? I read to be phased out when prices return to more normal levels - what if they don't then?
The Government is already benefitting form increase tax due to the rise ion oil price, I believe this is largely political.

Seems crazy for a company of this size to have to wait 9 months until the new guy starts. Likely to cause a drag on the share price as if we didn't need anymore already, a lot can happen in all that time. A lot of work to do and new CEO in Limbo for 3/4 of the year.

Woodford was an open ended fund, they had to sell liquid stocks to pay for the withdrawals and it became a flood that was unmanageable so had to be gated - no more money in or out temporarily.
This is a closed end Investment trust, they don’t have to sell assets to pay investors back, you just sell your shares to someone else. Of course they may end up being next to worthless but at least you can sell them !

They will be queuing up on Newsnight and Peston if that happens to try and persuade the Government to bail out homeowners whose houses have lost value if last night was anything to go by. Hard times are upon us and the free money of the last decade and a bit is winding to a close - long overdue imo.

Just one of those days where there are few hiding places to avoid getting burnt.

Still a poor investment one year later. This historically has run at par to NAV and now has 6-8% discount from last May which is unusual perhaps, a lack of confidence going forwards in Management? 2% dividend is not much compensation.

Should be a bigger dividend on H2 results paid in time for Christmas then!. One thing I don't like about Plus and it is only a minor annoyance is the amount of time between ex div and payment - over 4 months which is taking the mickey.
Todays rise puts us back where we were 2 years ago, hopefully the acquisitions and expansions will boost stable earnings to the point where the share price can grow again to new levels, and not just rely on a bit of market turbulence which gives a temporary boost only for it to fall away again.

The update looks reasonable to me, no really nasty surprises and AUM is fairly steady and impacted by global falls in stock markets. New clients down on 3 months vs 2021 is probably to be expected as harder times and negative sentiment is keeping them away for now.

Horrid drop today on the earnings miss. Dropped some 20% over the last 5 days maybe news had already leaked on top of awful market conditions.
Dividend held at $0.55 weak pound is offsetting some dollar losses on this right now at least.

Consensus EPS for JXN was $4.60 last quarter. Result was $3.94 so earnings have been missed and I expect the shares to drop further. Consensus EPS Taken from Yahoo finance.

Haha unfortunately at my purchase price the yield is less than 1.6% :( . I agree with everything you have said, my only hope is to try and get my money back on this now with a decent market rally but I can't see it anytime soon with all the problems in the world. The spin offs of M&G and Jackson have fared better for me and pay decent dividends with hindsight should have sold all PRU and put equally into those two.

The market US or whatever doesn't dislike SMT it's the shares that it holds are the problem. This is a higher risk IT with mostly growth stocks US and Chinese. With higher rates eroding potential future returns and a move to value stocks the results are what we see.

Next dividend will be declared at the final results on July 21. Historically this has been paid around the third week in October. Plenty of time for you to get back in, go on you know you want to :)
Looking back at my records my last sale here was 837p from a buy of 727p so made a pound before costs. Might add a few more if it drops towards £7. Nursing some big losses elsewhere so need to be careful not to over expose myself.

0.25 % rise was already expected and the market was looking for more. Look how sterling imploded against the dollar at 12:00. Looking grim.
