BT could fall to a penny and you’d be here pretending it hadn’t happened. If anyone had listened to your advice all the way down from £5 they would have been wiped out long ago.

Take this on board - you can’t argue with the market no matter how much you’re in denial. Denial doesn’t change anything. You may have blocked out the current shareprice but that’s the only reality, not your alternate one.

But at 37 baht for £ Thailand is way more expensive than the UK for everything except accommodation
Singha & Chang beer is cheaper at Tesco than it is in Thailand - that should tell you something.

The baht isn’t a free float by the way - it’s a dirty float (managed float) and it’s rigged by the criminal dictators who took control by force.

What is it about this share that draws in losers and chronic washouts in their droves? I read a lot of rubbish on this board but your posts take the cake. Not only that it’s thoroughly misleading and dishonest.

There’re a lot of desperate investors on this board and it seems they’ll fabricate any fantasy in the hope of lifting the shareprice.

BT has got to be just about the most capital hungry company in the country right now. You know how it is with these infrastructure projects - they always run over estimated budgets.

BT know they’ll never have a better opportunity to raise cash with the fallout from the virus. That’s what emboldened them to cancel the dividend and that’s what will encourage them to issue new shares.

All they are waiting for is a higher shareprice

You can bet the BT board have discussed the prospect of a huge capital raise from its shareholders.

There’s never a day go by when a company doesn’t announce a capital raise - yesterday it was Taylor Wimpey and a couple of others.

The conditions are perfect for it. BT has to invest billions to update its crumbling infrastructure and the only way they can get it is to issue new shares. The company is hungry for cash to meet its obligations.

It’s a question of when rather than if. According to my contants in the city the only thing that is holding them back is the low shareprice. The higher the shareprice the more they can tap investors up for. So until the SP rises above 150p I can’t see it happening.

But you can sure it will.

Take this on board - don’t fixate on one single share - especially one that perennially underperforms the market. That is one of the standout errors novices like you commit. Can’t see the wood for the trees and all that. Do you realize how much money you could have made if you’d invested in just about ANY other share as the same time you plunged all in with BT?

Opportunities lost - thousands of pounds lost. Or are you in denial?

I agree charts are tea leaves and witch craft, however if enough people /institutions/algos follow them, they can become self fulfilling.

Professional traders do not need a dummy’s chart to tell them if a share is in an upward or downward trend - it’s immediate obvious. People who rely on charts are deferring their intelligence to ignorant superstition because they gave no faith in their own reasoning.

I’ve been around trading floors for decades and I can tell you no trader worth his salt trades on charts alone. To be successful at trading you need to have the presence of mind to disregard nonsense.

Charts chart a share’s past shareprice but has no bearing on its future price movements.

Also chartists use the devious method of ‘curve fitting’ which accommodates every scenario under the sun. I think I’m right in saying fleccy has a similar view.

In short charts are nonsense - think of it like this - if charts weren’t used they would still be exactly the same because they’re simply recording past events.

As I stated weeks ago I believe BT has begun a slow path to recovery and the SP will rise towards £2. And I don’t need any chart to tell me that - because charts only predict the past.

Absolutely. This is an algo rally. The lard arses have programmed their algos to BUY BUY BUY and in doing so have fabricated a rally.

It takes no account of the 45 million lard arses on welfare benefits or the crash in companies earnings.
Fundamentals don’t come into it, the Dow is in bitcoin territory- with no regard to reality.

Easy to see how obtuse Americans have caused so many market crashes over the decades.

Dow up 5000 points since March 25. And the algos look set to drive it up to 26,000 today

The quickest the Dow ever rose 1000 points before the virus and algo rallies came along was one month. The Dow can do that in two days now.

Why on earth would I want to pour more money into one of the markets biggest dogs?

Is it any wonder that most retail investors get slaughtered.

Let’s start with the assumption that I have limited funds
And Lloyds is one of the top 5 worst performing shares in the ftse.

Why tie more up when there are 95 better opportunities in tthe ftse 100

Take into account that you buy into a company because you expect it to rise. Buying deep into a dog not only ties your capital up - it erodes it away
And worse - it cancels money that could be used to buy into shares that rise with the market.

What you’re recommending is to average down into a losing position -

That’s how you compound losses. Every trading book worth its salt warns against that folly. These boards are overflowing with mugs who averaged down into dogs such as Centrica and BT time and again.

And instead of making money when the market rises they are sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else win - while they lose.

Anyone reading these boards should be beware of the power of supposition. Especially when novices validate erroneous opinions and quote hindsight trades where they supposedly doubled their money.

Difficult to imagine a worse share to be in than Lloyds currently. Along with BT and Centrica it’s right up there as one of the markets biggest dogs.

Interesting to see brokers recommending it as a buy - but there’s a catch there-

Brokers Issue buy recs on shares institutional investors want to dump onto small retail investors. Ever wondered why there’s a correlation between the most popular retail shares and the worst performing ones?

Centrica being a case in point. Probably the most widely held share among individual investors and the biggest dog of the lot - currently 5 buy recs from brokers representing institutional investors wanting to offload their garbage on individuals.

Barclays is by far the bank to trade. It has a more diversified business model than Lloyds and has always benefited from more autonomy from meddling politicians.

I have a small holding in Lloyds; but you only need a small holding in this dog to incur big losses. I can’t it it recovering with the market and I wouldn’t advise anyone to buy into it.

As a rule - avoid shares popular with individuals and you’ll avoid losses.

For me openreach is the heart and soul of BT’s business. A cautionary tale of another telecom company should serve as an analogy - when Vodafone sold their prized asset - their stake in Verizon.

Okay I know Vodafone paid a special dividend, but I really believe the shareprice would be 60 percent higher today had they kept the Verizon stake.

Unlike BT, Vodafone are acquisition driven. They plowed some of the proceeds from the Verizon sale into their catastrophic Indian operations.

Need I say more. If you want to make money it’s best to do it in developed nations - not third world ones ruled by bandits who make insane tax demands, dating back 5-10 years before you arrived in the country to do business.

Openreach is a no brainer - if you’ve got one. To sell the most profitable part of a business would be asinine and I can’t see it happening.

If you had a brain, you’d understand that keeping the most valuable asset is a no-brainer.

One positive to be taken from the openreach for sale rumor is that it’s highlighted value in the company. Openreach is a cash cow.- to sell even part of it would be damaging but I’m sure the board is aware of that.

I do believe BT’s worst days are behind them and a slow tentative recovery in the shareprice is underway. As I’ve predicted before- I expect the SP to be closer to £2 by the end of the year.

My understanding of their announcement was that they were deferring their bonuses not forfeiting them. Shareholders have forfeited the dividend but it seems the vile pigs who run BT couldn’t bring themselves to miss out on their undeserved bonuses.

The BOD should always look after the best interests of shareholders but you have to question the integrity of the pigs that run BT. Putting your most valuable asset up for sale on the market stinks of asset striping. Investors used to moan about Paterson (former CEO) but at least he didn’t asset strip the company for monetary gain. I have serious doubts about this lot - they seem to be out to shade the employees and the shareholders for their own personal gain. If I was a big institutional investor I would pin the CEO up against a wall and ask him what his game was.

As I predicted weeks ago, BT won’t recover with the market, and that’s very apparent today I really can’t see what’s going to lift this stock; not even a rumor about it putting its prized asset on the market could give it a sustained rise.

Where are we now - close to a multi year low, a falling share in a rising market - a dividend dog that no longer pays a dividend. A stock that’s being dumped by institutional investors onto the usual victims - the clueless retail investors.

For what it’s worth I think it would be a huge mistake to sell its prized asset - it may lift the shareprice in the short term but when the lost revenue hits home it will plunge to new lows.

But for now the agony continues for shareholders with no end in sight.
