My views are market commentary; the direction of the SP can turn at the drop of a hat. You can be negative in the morning and positive in the afternoon. It’s always a huge drain on a company when slime ball politicians politicize them to forward their own populist agendas - and it always comes at the shareholders expense.

UK banks. - whipping boys for the financial crisis - except it didn’t end there - slime ball politicians have been a monkey on their back ever since - banning dividends and share buybacks - forcing them to reimburse proles for supposedly miss-sold financial products (very dubious) but won a lot of support among the mindless scat-tabloid herd - once again at the shareholders expense.

And BT - lots of red tape and restrictions- slimy politicians expect shareholders to pay for 5G and then give it away to all and sundry - but hey what do they care - it’s accretes populism for slime balls at the shareholders expense.

I say ; show me a politicized multinational and I’ll show you an investment tragedy.

I always worked in the private sector and like most of my colleagues I resented political interference. Mostly because the motives were insincere and damn right devious.

You’re always going to get profit taking when a shareprice rises precipitously, that’s why the SP falls back on the way up.

I can’t see too much downside before the rights issue because the banks responsible are supporting it.

The $64,000 question is what happens post RI?

I know the shareprice is being supported by all the banks handling the RI. They are using their brokerage arms to buy and support the SP. Of course it’s in their interests to ensure the RI succeeds. I posted about this on Friday. Shareprices don’t rise 50 percent from their lows in 3 days for nothing.

All the dumb clucks that have been bellyaching on here about shorters need a lesson in market dynamics.

As we’ve seen today when a position goes against them (short) a share can rise dramatically when they close out. . Shorters are buyers too, it’s just that they buy afterwards. Market makers know this and it drives the price up as they scurry for the exit. They run a corner.

Now look where it is
And it’s still heavily shorted.
Heavy shorting can drive shareprices into the stratosphere.

The sniveling little novices on here who whine and whine about shorters being the source of all evil remind me of twisted religious bigots who blame disease on man’s sin and other such sickening nonsense.

I took a good look at Rolls a few months ago and decided against buying in. Even before the latest shareprice plunge it looked like a heavily leveraged company with substantial cash burn. And most tellingly the liabilities outweighed the assets by a few million. Rolls is a prestigious company with a brilliant brand but that doesn’t make it a good investment.

It didn’t fit my criteria
But good luck to everyone.

The lesson you need to take from these boards is not to listen to intellectually challenged blowhards who continually post the same (sell) message over and over again and pretend to work for city brokers. I disagree. It’s my theory that the universe is an eternal free lunch. The first law of thermodynamics is the conservation of energy - energy is displaced not spent. (Dark energy and matter are key players in this process)

No - the shareprice is readjusted once the new shares are incorporated and that lowers your entry level (long or short)

People talk about shorting on here like it’s the easiest bet in the world. And think it’s immoral That’s because they’re talking hindsight.
But...
You have to place your bets in advance.

It’s more difficult to make money shorting

Basically you’re betting on an event beyond your control but the herd see you as the cause.
For example if you bet on the world ending and it does.

You are NOT the cause
But try telling that to the herd.

Watch the card game, when he demonstrates pre-determinism. That is a most compelling argument and it’s absolutely mind blowing.
