Having timed the sale of a couple of slices quite well, I have since added them back and bought more again today and will add on further falls.

I don't believe there is any fundamental problem here and the yield is great. I'll happily take a short term loss, or should I say opportunity?

Also topped up a reit and an infrastructure fund so happy divi days to come.

I may be wrong but I think there might have been reports of some preliminary discussions with CMA.

If so, I guess the worst case might be if they felt there were issues in certain areas, order some sell offs, much like other businesses in the past.

It seems unlikely PHP would have gone ahead if they had been indicated that there would be a big problem.

A little while ago, someone posted an answer from their broker. Essentially, the 'future cash element' was shown as non tradable PHP shares which would be replaced by cash, presumably on the 26th.

Made sense to me but maybe go look at the post in case I got it wrong.

Later in the rns they said

"... with $133 million targeted for payment in December and $200 million targeted for payment in April 2026, resulting in $500 million dividend for 2025."

I had forgotten about HEIT but good to see a happy outcome for you. Wasn't aware of AERS.

The reason I mentioned the other two was there were specific reasons. I was thinking of RESI who felt they were too small and presumably couldn't easily grow due to the discount to NAV. DGI9, where to start, let's just say they ran out of money. As regards the voting, I believe there was an issue with GSF which someone kindly alerted.

As you say it is wise to spread the load as I do across my whole portfolio. Nothing above 2%. I have also traded these funds in order to stay a decent amount below NAV for an element of safety.

I'm hopeful that we'll be ok here.

I'm fairly sure treasury shares are not used for pe or yield calculation.

This is common with these type of funds, I guess it's a safeguard against poor management hanging on. I have only known two vote for discontinuation, a reit as I recall and Digital9. There might be others but I think this will be ok.

I had chance to check and those prices did trade around that time but were marked 'off-book' so not the prices you would see and as t_o_d said, probably late reported anyway.

Hope that makes sense and clears it up.

I don't use either of those platforms but one I do simply plots the prices traded on the London stock exchange.

Given those times and prices it's possible they reflect the spread around that time. So the 78.4 a buy and the 77.7 a sell sometime before.

Would that explain it?

I believe the dividend is now a special, record date today, expected to be paid in 14 days. So yes. If you have time have a look at today's rns, section 4. It can be useful to learn.

The 'new' company will be the existing PHP but with all the assets etc. of Assura added.

I had a quick look and on closing price the last four xdivs working backwards were -1.4, -3.1, -0.9 and -2.0 so a bit of a mix.

I bought some more today on the basis of price and will happily buy more after xdiv if it drops enough. Best of both worlds I hope.

I have a vague memory that Argentina said anyone doing business in the Falklands wouldn't be allowed any work in Argentina.

I quite like SWS as a handy collection of data which is usually accurate. I would always double check if important though. What they are not is experts. The auto 'analysis' is always without context e.g. the dilution I made fun of.

For the person who said maybe GS behind it, that is partially true. Their forecast earnings comes from a consensus of analysts. So if GS has a lowball figure, it will bring the average down for that or those periods. The algo then says 'drop in earnings forecast'. No context nor explanation.

There are a few others doing the same thing.

As for your comment about herd mentality, I shake my head many times a day as I read particularly the US focused comments.

Not the office junior, it is mostly automated.

A few have mentioned BASF today. I would be pretty sure talks took place before seeking authorisation to conduct purchases off market.

My guess is that we are not yet at the sort of price that would be in play.

No reason to state the price, indeed many not to.

I have an idea that you need to be UK resident to be eligible for ISA or SIPP. Probably best check that first.

As I said before, I am not an expert but I believe you are confusing a company DRIP scheme with something a broker is calling DRIP incorrectly.

I maybe wrong.

The article you refer to was one of those I saw yesterday and dismissed as not specific enough.

And that's why copilot, chatgpt etc are yet another disaster happening before our eyes.

DRIP is a proper approved scheme conducted by some companies. To conflate that with a broker reinvestment option is garbage.

So let's just scrape various cr*p from the internet and pretend that's a valid answer. It's not even coherent.

I actually spent some time yesterday searching for the answer. You know, the way we used to. Out of maybe 50 or so search links I followed, all but one supposedly authoritative articles were not specific enough to be helpful. One, and only one, was a financial advisor's website which was very specific and adamant that you pay tax on dividends even if they are auto-reinvested.

I feel sorry for those who think 'AI' is AI !
