Time isn't a factor. Safety and fulfilment of the regulations to the owners, builders, machinery suppliers, classification society, etc, pass requirements will be. Each society has different rules and levels of requirements, Germanischer Lloyd being the hardest, or was.
One disastrous, two, trials I attended ended up in 13 trials due to malfunctions of various bits of kit, hull, engines, electronics, leaving us drifting in the Humber twice. The tanker unfortunately sank 15 years later. One trial is the norm but two or three can happen.
This is not a newbuild but a refurb. so,hopefully there will only be one.
Sea trials are serious business, lives can eventually be at stake.
