#BUR strong today with the YPF damages hearing next weak and the Argentine case weaker than American tea. And the rest of the business firing on all cylinders in the background. I’m locked and loaded.
Post by DP. I could not of put it better myself!

Yes, they would want the cash fairly quickly I’m sure. Also depends how well the existing portfolio is cashing in I guess! I know everyone says Argies are broke, but the constant embargo’s Burfords collection team could put in place over the near term to years, will make them pay, or they will struggle to exports to US Jurisdictions and countries that uphold US enforcement indefinitely, as it will be slow and the interest will keep mounting.
It’s just a matter of time now.
Jammy - 6B settlement, 2.1 billion to us I believe. WOW what we could do with that cash, they would apply the capital into new cases straightaway, and we then can take all the profit, no financing cost.
Seems like a sensible figure, I think if Mr Market got wind of this we will notice it in the SP.
In the interim will be good to put a value on the case, should have this by the end AUG . As only two matters for Presaka to consider now, which seem fairly easy to come to a conclusion on reading both arguments.
Are up in the US. 1.8 Million. Last increase end June.
Hold on to your seats.
Youonly, as the legal expert - after the trial will the judge then need a month or so to make a decision as standard court process? Or is it sooner than that… I though be at least 4 weeks after
Yep, same menu format for all - they have not made it clear though!
When in your HL a/c. Click ISA for example, then 'cash' tab, then you will see an option 'Tsfr your income balance, to your capital account' click that and it will send you to another menu to click the divs and move it over.
Yes you can do it your self, press the option to transfer to credit account, from income account. No need to call them. Happens instantly. Is abit tricky to find at first.
Funds were in my HL ISA - FFC, on payment day at around 11am. Just transferred them to balance.
Actual cash receipts are still not where we need them to be, most income made up from YPF, no sign of that coming in anytime soon.
Jam ‘still’ coming Zzzz.
I’m sure the interims will be better, not just a paper improvement on clever accounting!! And by year end I’m
Confident on some strong financials here.
Was hoping the II’s would be pilling in as with in a year this could easily double, when Argies eventually settle, like they always have done, they have a 100% record of court judgment payments. Plus BUR could easily sell the case for some fast bucks like the last big argie case against their airline.
It’s a investment, they don’t happen overnight. At least we get to reinvest div’s 12-14% lower than peak :)
GT there is a fair amount of shares allocated for shorting in the US. The trading volume in the UK is just embarrassing, even Gladstone tiny short could make it drop.
I think a final figure on YPF will make big headline news and uplift the SP. Two months till interims also, due to delayed Q1 accounts.
As expected.
Argentina (3 pages) and Burford (1 page) inform Judge Preska how they wish to proceed with this case.
- Argentina wants a 3-4 day trial starting JUL23.
- Burford wants a 1-day trial starting JUN24.
You not taking your own advice then youonly
“so turn the screens off for a while...”
Extrader - yep, it’s good for people to know the Argies are in an awful situation with their economy! So are the US right now, the irony.
They managed to pay Repsol 5 Billion, almost identical case. Was not that much better then, the economy. The Spanish government got involved and embargoed all imports from Argentina, this leverage made them pay!
Burford will do the same. The amount they owe from this county case will never go away, it’s going to make alot of their ideas of exporting certain commodities, very difficult indeed.
Burford will play the long game if they need to. Argentina will pay.
Everything I’ve read, says New York court rules state it needs to cover the entire judgement plus interest. Despite the size of judgement.
Let’s wait and see, I don’t like guess work. Best just to say ‘I don’t know’ or an educated guess. We don’t know how much power the judge has in this instance also.
Embargo planning in full gear at Burfords collection team I’m sure.
I would be surprised if the surety bond would be that low GT.
Ruling out in favour of Burford.
Will copy & paste djderry from blue board, he’s a clever chap and puts its very well …
djderry: Judge Preska's decision on the Republic of Argentina's motion for reconsideration and reargument is out. From what I gather,it's partly denied and partly granted.
She has denied everything except that Argentina can bring new evidence to show when they took control of YPF but it won't allow the Republic to bring any evidence that it took control after May 7th 2012.
It seems pretty much game, set and match as wasn't that always going to be part of the Oral Argument? Denied everything else, not going to entertain a different interest rate.
She also says the Republic can appeal if they don't like it.Looks like a fairly comprehensive rejection of most of the lines of argument put forward by the defendants.
Dips are getting filled in US, I made a SIPP top up on that last dip! Never timed a stock so well.
Sure it will go down now lol but only to allow me to top up again.
