Yep Artem Fokin interview, was long! But I had it on in the back ground. Always good to hear others opinions, didn’t really learn anything new. But the bit about how enforcement works was interesting, ceasing embassy officials homes to get them to the table. Burford went after the Russian Son in that large divorce care in a similar way, everyone thought they would never collect then to!! Soon paid up then
If the buying in low volume aim, just suppresses the SP, what happens when the buying stops in the coming days, all 4M spent, probably what happens after 4.30 pm. SP drop.
Old news - Friday August 09 2019, 12.01am, The Times
Been there many times BW, you look at the high price, then mentally you think that's your money. then you see it drop and you think you have now lost 'your money' and you feel gutted. Everyone goes through this, it's not your money till you press the sell button. Why the human brain, generally makes awful traders - emotion.
can't see a strong trading pattern, the small buys were taken out by the small sells yesterday, fairly evenly, the shorts start at 14.30 and it's no comparison to the 26 million they have in their current ****nal for shorting in the us. so i'm always out by the time us opens.
think i just got lucky 2 days ago. will wait till it goes as low as possible then buy back in and hold.
As frustrating at it is, it’s very much the norm with this stock. Has been for years, in the past I’ve said lawyers are highly risk obverse, do that make great CEO’s, questionable. Bogart is pure brilliance at his profession, him and Molot very cleaver guys; no question about that. But they are high end lawyers, at the end of the day, and do lack some risk management qualities you get in an engaged CEO, who knows what Mr Market what’s to hear.
If you look at the facts, it’s not unsurprising we are where we are, and if your long why does the monthly big swings annoy you. If you’re long here, no need to check the stock everyday. Really should check every 3-6 months on performance. Or see the dips as opportunities.
Definitely a good trading stock at the moment unfortunately.
It is what it is.
Thanks, Renegade, Share buyback is very common. My favorite company for this has to be Plus500. They are the masters at it and really helped to achieve great heights with their SP, which made me a good few bucks over the years.
To me looks like a great play by BUR directors. They usually like sinking every available bit of cash they have into new cases, not interested in the SP, but this is two birds with one stone. Stimulate the SP & purchase the shares they need for their scheme.
Sorry not 4M shares, 4M Pounds.
Very interesting. Not need this play by BUR before, usually, they issue them at zero value.
They are buying again. I'm back in as soon as that RNS hit. I have done some homework on share volume on AIM, so can identify when they are buying and how many shares, we should also get an RNS each day. This feels a bit to good to be true. But 4m shared purchased on AIM will make the SP go up. As the volume is so LOW.
Lets hope this game play works out.
But buying the shares in the market rather than issuing them at no cost, only on low volume aim. 4m.
Depends how fast they by they I guess over how many days.
Not sure what their intention is purchasing on AIM. Maybe to close the short in the US. As they are not able to control the price movement when their market is closed and ours is open. We have very slow (under .5) short position on this side of the pond currently.
If you purchase on AIM, they will be UK Share Stock.
This looks good. all purchased on AIM, where volumes are very low. so we should see an increase. two birds with one stone approach by management. Maybe they do care about the SP!! after all.
Nice results. Future looks bright.
The share buyback shows them looking after their shareholders with the main aim to grow the SP. Which benefits all invested. Will be adding to my position.
Stop losses are being triggered, no appetite to buy just yet. As next update is Q3, end Nov I should think.
We might get some US funds buy in, bit of luck. Uk funds are staying away.
The larger issue is that UK Financial Institutions have dramatically reduced their holdings of UK stocks from c. 30% to about 5% now. This combined with high cash redemption from funds and it's clear why the UK is so cheap relative to other markets. Posted at 21/8/2023 10:06 by maddox.
Argies have 30 days from date of judgement to appeal.
They will plead with Preska to allow a stay, so they can appeal and no bond required to prevent enforcement during the appeal process. It seems highly unlikely this will be granted, but a reduced bond might be allowed, for say 1/2 the judgement. It is an important decision that will determine Argies next move.
More likely, they will have to post a bond. If they don’t pay it (sure they won’t) burford can seize any qualifying asset, become a real nuisance, this will alternately force their hand. Depending how effective Burford enforcement team are, I’ve heard they are the best in the business.
Even a new government in Argentina, I’ve read have the view this won’t need settling anytime soon. But that can change with pressure put on them.
As usual with this stock - it’s just a matter of time.
I’m invested in LIT to, results Tuesday. It’s part the reason. The other is the 2.1 Million allocated for shorting in the US (use to be UK to, still think they might try their hand soon) and more importantly we are still making a ‘loss’. Reports are complicated and fictional, with gains mainly from cases moving through the system. We need cases settled and dues paid, for this to go up to the heights you mentioned. Which I think we will finally start seeing towards the end of the year, with momentum building into 2024.
Updates are now quarterly remember, it was worse prior. You get two updates a year and it use to drift down over months, that was painful.
This is now a strong medium hold. Top up in the dips.
The new SEC approved formula, now takes effect on Interest rate rises on the portfolio. About 100 million had to be adjusted for it.
Watch the presentation if you can, I watched it again yesterday. They explained it on there.
Final order just published. Bet Preska is pleased to get that order out the way. Looks like she was fairly annoyed with them in the end, to keep changing their defensive.
