I personally hope Bogart & Team once we know the award, monetise the case ASAP. FAST cash, heavy discount of course, but they will get it reinvested ASAP into new cases/business. They did it to the last case against the state (airline), sell to a hedge fund, and let them chase the cash for the next few years. We will happily take a couple of Billion now (at the lowest award rate)
This is still a good read for new investors -

Yep 100% agree, why share price is low and it’s an opportunity.
Judge Preska is so professional. Best way to describe her is like the perfect host to a dinner party, she will discuss everything, always polite and well mannered. Due to her consistency you can’t gage what she is really thinking. She just listens and aids anyone talking by asking questions, very very fair. The plaintiff’s attorneys ended the trial with rebuttal. The court process is very structured, in a standard format. Judges generally never giver their opinion during a trial.
We can only state an option on the arguments and look at the facts. The by laws could not be any clearer.
No one knows. But a lot think September.
5. IMO Argentina will lose the date argument (APR 16) and may get a break on the interest rate issue (5%-6%).
Hansen, Burford’s lead attorney is concluding in court. See why he’s one of the best litigators in New York, he’s just clearing everything up perfectly.
Kellogg Hansen Todd Figel & Frederick
They made a joke in court, they better crack on with what Hansen charges!
AceofClubs - We have WON. We are now seeing how much. Once awarded, what is owed NEVER goes away even if the judgment takes months, years to decades to recover. It will make Argies ambition to trade oil, and lithium very difficult for any country trading in dollars.
Your statement, with all due respect, is very naive. Of course, it's your opinion, but more of a short seller than a true shareholder of Burford, which most of us are here. BUR is not just about one case, of course, the backlog of cases is firing on all cylinders!
The court case hearing is much more interesting today!
AceofClubs - Tell us what we don't know.
What you need to remember is that Argentine have always paid a court dept (takes time, but they have 100% record), also Burford can always sell the case like it did the last one against the state.
I plan to listen today, but if it's like yesterday, it is rather painful listening.
It's funny when they start arguing, Preska steps in like a schoolteacher. Please behave yourselves.
I think it will be a judgment, that will calculate what's owed from the April 16th @ 6% Intrest rate.
So $14.142 Billion.
I listened to a lot of it. Won’t get them hours back! Was interesting, but boy the defence was really struggling with Prof. Fischel. They went over and over same basic bits like how to calculate PE over and over. Was painful.
Preska clarified a few things, but at the end of the day the bylaws state how to calculate the renumeration, very clearly.
I don’t agree with Mr Maril, I think this is just the judge reinforcing her summary judgment. The Argentina defence just used lawyers arguing argentine law.
Just a wrap up day today really, as the parties used majority of their time up Thursday.
I’m on the call now, listening in the court room! Wow
FFC or anyone going to listen to the court case? I just set up Skype and added 1 month's US call package for £2 ish, to listen in.

Just made a quick 10% of LIT, if you look at the chart these dips look standard, and was no merit to the dip. Easy money.
BUR looks like it could explode at any moment, who knows though would not be surprised if we get a slight retrace after the trial till the decision. The key info is that the by-laws stated, a tender offer should be made of 'any type' of takeover of control or nationalisation. It states that specifically, to protect investors from a sharp drop in share price. It dropped 40% after the 16th April.
£12 would be nice base.
Burford we’re on 60 Seconds again in the US, more publicly. All very positive.
SO 2 days in court - 1 additional day could be added by the judge.
Final replies by 4th AUG. For the court to then make a final decision on how much Argies owe and at what interest rate - I'm thinking end AUG/SEPT for the final decision.
Look who’s dreaming now.
Would be happy with realisations in the £100’s of millions arena. Way I see it, it’s like we are starting again from 2017/2018, but path forward should accelerate, due to backlog.
BBH, it’s going to go up and we are going to really struggle not to sell :) the dips will be nerve racking, as we got in years ago and playing with well over 50k shares! Still it’s a good position to be in.
Think once we have a figure on petersen it should make loud news and we could see an uplift to break through £12. With settlement talks who know, off to £15. Even though Mr Maril said he’s heard whispers of settlement talks (Jammy highlighted) I don’t think it will be anytime soon, BUR have track record of selling winning cases for fast money. also heard so many things on the grapevine- IMF assistance, will be left for next government to sort…
I predict £20 by end of 2024, like others. Could be sooner at a drop of the hat with case vintages coming through (we have no idea if there are other big cases in that lot!)
Mr Market want to see cash receipts now. (Jam)
Around £15 by end 2023. Q3 starting to see cases finally turning in to decent cash income.
Just got to let it all play out now.
Please let me know if you think differently?
