The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Looks like I’m buying back earlier than anticipated.
Purchased some on close sub £12.
Still 2Million allocated to shorting in US. So could drop further.
Thanks fcc. When you made a few hundred thousand profit, you don’t really mind if it goes up more. It’s a strange feeling, yep I’m not out out, still own a fair amount of shares and will buy back hopefully at some stage . If it goes up happy days. Down even better now. Win win. I will try not to miss the settlement RNS or ride to £20. But for now it’s time to spend abit and enjoy it. You only live once :D.
Sorry, hit enter before I had time to proofread it. The grand plan for me was always to sell out after the peak of YPF case results and value. Just sticking to my plan.
BUR won't see any cash from that case for a very long time, appeal takes 12 months. and will be another month or so before they can even do that. The very slow court system is a bit of a curse for this stock.
Still future looks very bright!! and will buy back in and keep trading for many more years to come.
I sold out 80% of BUR stock yesterday at £13.30. Kept some in my SIPP. Been invested as you know for 3/4 years now and doubles my money. I will buy back in at a lower level, as it usually goes quite now till Oct. I can't YPY paying out for a long time, appear takes 12 months. and enforement is ver
I agree Syoun11. They might also give us a trading update with results. Not been unknown, especially if the results are still showing a negative. I’m sitting on the fence with this one, I can’t believe 3 months is another time to get huge cash in, as it’s just a small amount of time in the legal world. I’m expecting some wins, but cash receipts still IOU’s. Hope I’m wrong. The last half of the year will be a totally different story and 2024.
Unfortunately, I’m only expecting moderate cash receipts on Wednesday. With jump in realisations and major jam just in arms reach now!!
The win is huge, in many ways ! I think Burford are in an excellent position to go after the banks and start seizures in coming months. New government likely to negotiate. Burford could easily sell this case now to a fund. Burford have a royal flush, they own this case.
We need cash receipts now from vintages ASAP to carry on the momentum.
Amazing stock to hold. Once in a life time I think. Could be a 4/5 bagger in that time frame easy with compounding.
Going to be an interesting week ahead! 16 Billion win sinks in, results Wednesday. No idea what to expect.
I’m sitting in huge profits, but I know this has long way still to
Climb in next 12 months, so sitting tight. Few quotes from the great man himself on how to win BIG -
“Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago”
And my favourite -
“IF YOU AREN’T WILLING TO OWN A STOCK FOR 10 YEARS, DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT OWNING IT FOR 10 MINUTES”
Covgaz - depends when you purchased your shares! And if you could see the opportunity to triple your money from the lows of £3 since then.
This is a huge opportunity.
Yes, usual low volume. Bring on full US listing! This would be much higher by now if UK was buying! See why I want a full US listing now. UK market is hindering our SP. Yes exchanges should be the same, but they don’t come close on volume.
Shorts are having a play in the US, let’s see if they close. As Preska decision is looming. Usually see a flick up at the end of the day, with them closing.
Lots to look forward.
Wish I had taken the option to move the shares from the UK listing to the US when had the chance! we were offered. Just embarrassing the UK daily average volume. The UK funds/II's are staying clear still, but they will buy in when they see cash receipts, and they always follow the leader.
See what the US make of this huge tick at 14.30.
On low volume days, the shorts push SP down. 2M shares allocated for shorting in US, is the main one. UK volume is so low, does not take much to short this side of pond.
Short positions in US have reduced slightly.
Top up time
No one say anything :D
The usual very LOW volume in the UK, prob mainly made up of Galdstone small open short, with its bot pushing us down 1-3% on low volume days, which is most days on opening in the UK.
Tried trading it, but is a bit unpredictable and not worth risk.
We opened so much lower than US finished on, I grabbed some more early doors.
Yep the US filled the gap lovely!
Thanks for clearing that up BlueWiley!
Would say YES, it affects Burdford in the UK. The majority of BUR portfolio is in the US though, believe the UK has a fair chunk of cases, would need to look back at the results to look closely at the geo split. MANO purchases the right to fund litigation, the complete opposite of Burford.
How much this affects Burford and if they conform to the new standard i don't know.
Bogart has expressed recently his dissatisfaction with the UK Legal adoption of litigation funding. Maybe you should email, Robert Bailhache | Director and Head of Investor Relations, EMEA and Asia, rbailhache@burfordcapital.com
See if he can clarify, please keep us informed of his reply.
Unless they close their position! Might drive it down to sell out
Think shorts will have abit of fun now ffc as usual, 2M shares being used for shorting in the US. Till results or news
