The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
You were correct - I’m listening to it now!!
On Friday we will know how Argy and Burford will proceed following Judge Preska's ruling on 3/31.
- They will publish a joint statement.
- Argentina can appeal, negotiate or deposit a guarantee in ESCROW.
- Burford can appeal YPF fav. ruling and/or begin enforcement of judgment.
‘Burford Junkie’
Guess that’s us! Totally addicted
Another crap article in the FT.com.
Such a lack of understanding it’s unbelievable, such drivel. At least they have acknowledged the Petersen win!!
Yep shorts are reduced. In the UK anyway.
The US is on its own now till Tuesday.
I should think the shares have also passed the 50% US ownership barrier now!
Rampers, bears, bulls, shorters, learners, pros, experienced, passionate, idiots, journalists & passive people are here on this board - that’s life!
When a board gets busy - you get the lot.
Nothing you can do or say can change that.
We are here for collective knowledge, it’s actually important we are all different and see opinions at all angles - even if you find them annoying.
youonly - How large a bond or security would ARG have to put up to appeal, do you think?
In the meantime, the judgment is enforceable of course.
Thanks GT.
Always said the problem now is not to sell early. But when you see your stock double and triple it is going to be hard not to!
Burford also have the option to sell the case win. Which they have done before, fast cash ?? to redeploy. Then let the buyer chase the Argies.
Please also remember - Argentina historically has always paid their judgements from a US court, abet sometime reluctantly and late but still a 100% repayment record.
Repsol is an almost identical case, they settled many years ago now for billions - the state of the Argentinas economy was still in dire straights then to.
See we have some new posters, that I feel are trying to understand Burford, but are asking some very trivial and very outdated questions from events 3/4 years ago!
This might helps and is still a very good read -

We won the Petersen case!!!
Nice to see that prat at FT.com Dizard, hang his coat up. He should be ashamed at some of the articles he’s published on burford.

What is this, positive news!!!
Wow.
How long have we waited for this. Best timing to a SIPP top up Ive ever made!
Well done everyone.
*** The Court agrees that the tender offer price the Republic would have been required to offer if the Republic complied with the Bylaws is the appropriate measure of Plaintiffs’ compensatory damages.***
Judgement has come out - Petersen
Feel bit let down by the management team, in just springing the SEC review on us, with no forewarning. Very poor show. Going to email Rob and tell him such.
I and youonly said there was something up, as accounts are late. Will keep fingers on the pulse.
Still have a lot of confidence in this stock, but they do need to up there communication to investor.
Thank you, pymadams.
Will be interesting to see if the press gets on BUR side!!
for once.
I trust Burford in this situation, they are not going to break the law. They will look after our best interest; ensuring the capital is invested wisely, ensuring contracts are not abused.
No one knows the full details here, just snips of information for the tabloid to abuse as usual.
Then sell youonly.
Or top up and keep calm. 5 years is a long term investment minimum.
