Barely two weeks ago Shaun Day said that, "We think we'll be able to get some Rio Tinto or South Paterson, I might start calling it, South Paterson drilling done this this calendar year as well because some of those targets and some high-quality targets are already heritage cleared, already defined drilling programs ready to go."

Also, don't forget, "There are some targets on Rio Tinto that look more like Havieron than Havieron. It's yeah, it's a good place to drill"

Indeed ace! I still cannot fathom exactly what some posters on here (investors, or not?) want our MD to do, essentially immediately, to suddenly increase the SP?!

If you can't see the impending catalysts, increasingly pushed into a diminishing timeframe, then, quite frankly, I give up!

The SP today is ludicrous, in the extreme, IMHO. You may well think differently, and I have absolutely no issue with that, whatsoever, and never have.

However, and, yes, increasingly, I see the sp moving up in line with those catalysts over the next few months, and, quite frankly, if you snooze, you'll lose!

That all said, good luck in whatever your investment strategy is. It changes throughout your life. Everyone to their own, blah. blah, but please DYOR! TT

There are some significant developments taking place in relation to the potential merger between Newcrest (ASX:NCM) and Newmont, as well as the future of the Havieron gold copper prospect. However, it is important to present the information in a more positive and optimistic light.

Newcrest and Newmont are currently finalising the financial and operational details of the US$17.8 billion offer from the esteemed American mining company. While navigating the merger talks, both companies are facing some challenges that require their attention.

One of these challenges arises from a dust pollution issue at the Cadia gold copper mine in Central Western NSW. However, this matter is expected to be resolved through increased investments and thorough studies, with the support of diligent regulators who are determined to see the problem resolved. Once the bid goes through, it will become Newmont's responsibility to address and rectify the situation.

In addition to the dust pollution issue, there is another development that is placing additional pressure on the ongoing merger discussions. Greatland Gold, the 30 per cent shareholder in the Havieron gold copper prospect near Newcrest's Telfer mine in outback WA, has recently reported promising assay results from their latest drilling campaign....

'First gold' is an interesting one, on it's own.

As mentioned by Bamps a few days ago, Australia United Mining (AYM) announded that the first bars of gold dore have been poured from the Company’s Ropewalk Goldmine.

That alone sent their sp up 50%.

AYM share price UP 50% too!

One of the most critical comments by Alastair Ford concerns the ASX listing, and which Shaun Day has stated, on numerous ocassions, and which I've agreed with for many months now, is all about net Buyers, and not sellers:

"It’s not just that the company’s shares will be available for the first time to the world’s fourth largest pool of investment capital, though that’s nice. Some of the institutional investors in Australia are mandated only to invest in Australian-listed companies, so even if they end up trading the shares in London, Greatland nonetheless needs to have that Aussie listing to attract their interest."

Alastair Ford is one of the few well researched analysts/writers I listen to, and he's been commenting on Greatland Gold for some years now! Thanks MF11!

Thanks for that view Malcolm. Everyone has their own investment strategy of course, and I hope that yours works out well for you. Although I don't want to talk volume, I don't mind saying that I've increased my GGP holding by around 25% over the past couple of months through topping up, when the price has dropped below 7p, which, quite frankly, IMHO, is a ludicrously low sp for what we have (and will have!). Much of that's been by selling down other stocks. ATB!

"Peru climbed from ranking 42 nd (of 84) in 2021 to 34 th (out of 62) in 2022 despite decreasing its Investment Attractiveness Index score by nearly one point. On policy alone, Peru decreased its score by over 12 points and this year ranks 49 th out of 62. Furthermore, all the respondents expressed concern over Peru’s political stability."

Also, interesting that the Fraser Institute 'Annual Survey of Mining Companies, 2022', which was published last month, showed Peru as 34th out of 62 countries/states in their 'Investment Attractiveness Index', compared with Western Australia which ranked 2nd highest.
