The latest research note from Cavendish goes heavy on possible future M&A activity between Greatland & Antipa, with Telfer mentioned 40 times...

Antipa has 4,060km2 of prime exploration ground around the Telfer processing facility (2,540km2 100% held and 1,520km2 Paterson IGO farm-in project which is also still 100% Antipa’s). The Telfer plant has capacity to take c.22Mtpa of ore and current operations have a 15-month plan, then a number of open pit and underground brownfield opportunities to be investigated, and Havieron is planning to deliver 2.8Mtpa, so plenty of ore needs to be found to fill the plant. Antipa holds 100% of Minyari Dome which currently has an initial combined open pit and underground mine schedule of 30.2Mt at 1.5g/t gold for 1.5Moz gold, which could go some way to providing feed to Telfer in the short term. Beyond that Antipa is going to drill the large Parklands target, just 10km northeast of Telfer...

Very possibly correct. I'm not really concerned either way. We've seen it all before for years now. Nevertheless, this looks a bit different from the last few retraces though, and maybe FMO, with several catalysts imminent, could sustain the current rise. Only time will tell, as always! DYOR & GLA

Greatland Gold has marked its transition from explorer to producer ahead of a planned ASX cross-listing in the coming months.

During the first half of the 2024–25 financial year (H1 FY25), the company consolidated ownership of the Havieron gold-copper project and acquired the historic Telfer gold-copper mine.

The company ended H1 FY25 with a cash balance of £71.9 million ($146 million) and net assets of £491.5 million ($1 billion), reporting £8.3 million in revenue and £18 million in net profit after tax – a strong financial foundation as it pushes forward with its ambitious growth strategy.

Managing director Shaun Day described the period as “a transformative” phase for the company, highlighting key milestones that reinforce Greatland’s vision of establishing a world-class mining and processing hub in Western Australia’s Paterson Province....

The Australian Securities Exchange is experiencing an influx of Canadian producers seeking dual listings.

There has been a trickle of dual listings on the ASX since 2018,, but the trend has significantly accelerated following Canadian uranium developer NexGen Energy (TSX: NXE), adding an Australian listing in 2021.

Capstone Copper’s (TSX: CS) ASX listing in February 2024, however, seemed to have open the floodgates, with a further four Canadian mining companies initiating the listing process since.

London stock being deserted

The TSX isn’t the only exchange losing mining companies. The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has also suffered an exodus, with Glencore CEO Gary Nagle suggesting the company may leave the LSE, though not necessarily for Australia.

Greatland Gold (LON: GGP), which has considered an ASX listing for years, confirmed this week that it is targeting a cross-listing in the June quarter.

“As a significant Australian gold-copper producer, the ASX listing is intended to provide benefits including an enhanced capital markets profile and increased institutional ownership and index participation,” CEO Shaun Day said....

Greatland Gold (GGP) had given away much of its Havieron project before Newmont sold it back to the company when it deemed the mine wasn't big enough to be worth pursuing. This has worked out extremely well for Greatland, which now looks undervalued even at a £1bn market cap. ....

A single day 5% rise in the price of copper, widely seen as a reliable forward economic indicator, was caused by a combination of a threatened 25% tariff on U.S. copper imports, and demand for the metal in a re-awakening German armaments sector.

At US$4.77 a pound copper is back to where it was 10 months ago as consumers of the most widely used industrial metal scramble to lock in supply thanks to a chain reaction of uncertainty stirring commodity and equity markets....

Greatland Gold managing director Shaun Day has described the first half of the 2024–25 financial year (H1 FY25) as “a transformative period”, shedding light on the company’s progress in developing the world-class Havieron gold-copper project in Western Australia.

While finalising its acquisition of Newmont’s Telfer gold-copper mine and 70 per cent stake in Havieron, Greatland published an independently reviewed ‘base case’ development and mine plan for Havieron.

This included:

a 51 million tonne (Mt) mining inventory

a 2.8Mt per annum mining rate

a mineral resource estimate of 8.4 million ounces of gold equivalent

an average of 221,000 ounces of gold and 8000 tonnes of copper being produced during the first 15 years of operations

a life-of-mine to June 2046

first ore production expected to take place in H2 2026

first gold targeted for H2 2027.

Since then, the company has progressed Havieron’s feasibility study to plan, with a targeted completion set for the second half of 2025.

Day said the development of Havieron’s feasibility study has been “substantially de-risked” by its ownership of the nearby Telfer infrastructure....

So, the copper-gold concentrate is mostly gold, and I'm assuming then that the £48M revenue still doesn't include any of the gold doré bars, which is supported further by the text in the RNS, which states, "Gold and copper are produced by a large processing facility comprising two 10Mtpa capacity trains, totalling 20Mtpa in nominal capacity, that produces gold doré and a copper-gold concentrate."

It'll be interesting to see the actual breakdown in April when we get the Telfer full Q1 update figures, with revenues, but very good that the gold doré isn't yet included in the £48M revenue figure.

For further information & clarification, and thanks to telbap on ADVFN who emailed Greatland yesterday on the 'concentrate'. They have replied:

"Thank you for your email. Telfer produces concentrate product with both gold and copper metal contents, weighted more towards gold metal.

The specific details will be provided in our March quarter."

Finally, back to 9p again. Hopefully this rise will be sustained now!

Greatland Gold PLC has hailed the ‘transformational’ impact of securing full control of the Havieron gold-copper project, while also highlighting a strong start to production at the Telfer mine, marking a pivotal six months for the company.

Just for information, Antipa Minerals completed their 1:10 consolidation today. I've always thought it would probably be the same ratio for GGP, and still do.
