ImmuPharma’s new RNS on P140 is making waves, and it’s easy to see why. On the bullish side, this looks like a $100 billion+ opportunity in autoimmune diseases, plus another $10 billion in diagnostics. A new patent gives them 20 years of exclusivity, and the ability to target up to 50 different diseases. If it works, that’s exactly the sort of asset big pharma will fight over — JV, licensing or even takeover.
But here’s the counter-argument. Read the RNS carefully and notice how much space is given to the scientists. Dr. Goudreau and Dr. Mauran-Ambrosino are promoted front and centre. That’s not by accident. This isn’t just about the drug, it’s about showing the credibility of the team behind it. To me, that signals management is positioning the science (and the scientists) as the real asset. When negotiating with big pharma, it’s not only the patent that matters — it’s the know-how, the people who created the breakthrough.
So the big question is this: was today’s RNS about selling the market on P140’s potential, or was it about putting the scientists in the shop window for the serious conversations that are already happening behind closed doors?
Either way, IMM now looks like it’s moved to the front of the queue in the autoimmune space.
