These assets are good enough to be worth investing time, money and effort to get them working efficiently, but the difficulties both companies have encountered show there are probably no easy major projects left in the world.

Yes, well done Sparky, my 281 proved over-optimistic. As far as the SP gyrations, I would say traders were buying before the results in anticipation (or inside info !) of the good results and when the price duly went up they took profits and ran, hence the subsequent drop. As the old saying goes "sell on the news" .
