Really tricky, I think China is of most importance, May's vote has already been written off as a no-win and it's more about what happens next so could even mean UK shares go up in the interim - who knows. Never a bad idea to hedge against your shares so that you dont have to sell them (which is what the mms want you to do)

about the price staying the same, I noticed that and can't average down until I can see some light. Is it possible we are being shorted, or is the outcome for Debenhams weighing on us ?

Maybe they're waiting to see how Debenhams turns out, I'm thinking it's the Debenhams factor that is also holding this sp back. If Debenhams goes kaputt then some bad debts here, the optimist in me believes that no way good old Debenhams will be allowed to go bust as too much history and value in the name, sure they said the same about Carillion but surely not again

To all of the holders saying they will reject 1p, it's a disgrace blah blah, you have an offer on quote currently for around 3p I don't know why you aren't taking it as it's a darn sight better than 1p and probably as much as you can expect in the circumstances, even an improved bid will probably only get 2p if the books are that bad ?

yeah I was hoping (beyond all hope) for 1p before all the chatter about a rival bid, dindn't get it unfortunately

redrichmond, that's a great analogy. Although not in here I lost some on a non existent santa rally this year but the gains from previous years more than offset. Yes it hurts a little but with the correct mindset it feels better.

Mike, the mms allowed the share price to rise sharply yesterday after the Daily Telegraph tip, very often they slowly pull the rug over the next few days to scare the inexperienced out. There was a very positive trading update today but even so it could still slip slightly before rising over the long term, it's a good long term bet imo and the dividend will help too

and if they are still generating strong cash which I expect they should be then we cannot rule out a special divi,given the existing cash pile
