I'd imagine the US did a fair amount of due diligence before committing. The euraldite is well documented, refining from it is difficult but not impossible. This was definitely uneconomical when China was not imposing restrictions, but now they are exercising the power granted by their monopoly on rare earth's the West needs to utilise what ever is available. Technology changes, I'm sure they'll find a way to overcome it. Either way, doesn't really matter to much to us, I doubt we will still be holding crml shares when/if it becomes a mine, we just need a share price of $5 + again and to sell it IMHO.
