the holding in venturex was indeed pledged as security(not sure it was the entire holding but that doesn't really matter) and it has as you say increased over the last year or so.regent hold 15.14% of venturex which on a strict mathematical basis equates(coincidentally?) to 9. 59m AD at todays date.the problem is that they won't be able to sell 15%
%or so on market as it would crash the share price.maybe they will be able to place part or even all of it with institutions(JM has fingers in many pies) but my guess is they will have to raise additional finance in some way for at least part of the assessment.i am assuming the revenue would not consider taking the holding in specie. they are not investors and just want their money.i hope I'm wrong and that regent will be able to deal with the assessment without difficulty but I'm not confident.happy to be proved wrong

ok I've read the rest of the announcement and i apologise in advance if my comments are coloured by a very negative attitude towards regent today but i was left feeling distinctly underwhelmed,it does sound as though we may get some positive news re HK/Macau in next 6 weeks but why in gods name could they not just give us the date when the application was submitted.was it ist jan or 31st?vagueness seems obligatory in almost all their announcements.possible news re china later this year but again vague and not particularly helpful(i know this is perhaps unreasonable but thats the mood I'm in).
particularly disappointed by phrase that recordati is looking to roll out further in its other countries"over the next few years" hardly an encouraging or precise piece of information.i hope we may get a little more flesh on the bones in the next update but am not looking forward to the next placing/fund raise news to get them through the next few months.hope my negativity is entirely misplaced and welcome any positive thoughts from others to counterbalance.

n4apenny just referring back yo your post of sunday morning can you kindly confirm that you have emailed walbrook for confirmation on the 3 independent liver experts question.im not sure whether it makes any real difference in the overall scheme of things but it would be interesting to have confirmation of the authenticity of their appointment.if you haven't had a chance yet i may do so myself tomorrow but no point two people asking the same question. thanks

thanks professor for drawing boards attention to todays announcement.not seeking an argument but I'm afraid i take a very different view of the outcome of the tax case from you.the original claim(after a modest reduction arrived at presumably after some negotiation with revenue) was11.845m AD.interest accrued to 2/7/18 o f6.17mAD and by 1/3/19 this had grown further to total19.12mAD.they have settled at about half this but its not that far off the original assessed figure.throughout regent/plethora maintained a bullish stance even to the extent of refusing to incorporate any provision in the accounts for the potential liaibiltyl.i have previously posted my view as to why no provision was very unwise so will not repeat that here.today we now learn that their bluff was called the braggadocio abandoned and the matter compromised on the courts doorstep so to speak.nowit may have been perfectly sensible to compromise now but why no provision and why allow the interest to grow so alarmingly?easy for me to crtiicise from the comfort of my armchair but seriously unimpressed by all this and where are we now?we have to pay the assessment within 90 days. we do not have the liquid funds. the amount you refer to in your post is,I'm afraid not just cash but cash and quoted and unquoted securities which will include the holding in venturex (happily up about 8.9%today) so they are either going to have to sell something or raise cash in some way.i know which way my bet goes.
now i entirely accept that there is a bigger picture and i haven't digested all the other stuff in the announcement yet as I've been out most of today but just off the top of my head it confirms the very lengthy time scale for the FDA which we all knew was on the cards but which was subject to a hope that it might be expedited in some way. clearly that is not going to happen.i do expect the closer we get to a formal NDA the it will impact the sp beneficially but even that is a long way off.sorry feeling very despondent today.may feel better tomorrow when i have had a father look at the announcement in its entirety.

sorry hailo i think its going to be a bit longer than that for FDA news.the information we have been given is that the FDA meeting typically takes place 30-45 days after request.the formal minutes of the meeting are provided 30 days after meeting and market will be updated after minutes are provided.we don't know when the meeting request was made but unlikely to have been before 22nd feb at earliest.so unlikely imo to hear anything about meeting outcome until last few days of april at earliest and more probably some time in first two weeks of may.obviously we may get other news at any time.

perfectly reasonable expectation imo in fact i think you have already been too patient.i rarely spend more tham 5 mins in any one stock.my latest book "Speed Investing for the Simple Minded" comes out shortly and is highly recommended

completely agree wizard/Tobias.if when we do hear it proves to be a class 1 resubmission then the s/p will improve significantly on that news.we do have to get through the current turmoil first though.imo
