well dougie i wasn't expecting a rush of replies but after a few hours i will give you my thoughts.basically the answer is i suspect "no".there really is very little reason to see any positive aspects to the current situation.even the apparent willingness of mellon and gibson to increase their holdings is really just a way of engineering further dilution and protecting their investments as they are creditors to the company to the extent of their loan notes so not really at risk (or more precisely not so much at risk as the ordinary shareholders).the recent upswing was short lived and seems pretty clearly to be a cynical pump and dump,providing no encouragement,except as an indication of what positive sentiment and actual long term buying might achieve if only we could get some.the sought after change from RX to OTC might be some sort of catalyst for improved sales(at the expense of reduced margins) but the likelihood of success in changing is i suspect not great.hopefully we will get an update in finals.the progress of the FDA application is i suppose the only potential bright spot but as bignose says this has gone quiet.no doubt some news will be in finals.the fda process requires money and regent have very little,hence my interest in the china payment of 4m (is it dollars or pounds sorry can't remember).it would have provided much needed funds but all gone quiet.the rubbish about exciting cbd opportunity is i think just that,face saving rubbish and if that is correct then it was appallingly cynical and disingenuous..if we don't get the RX to OTC permission i have little doubt recordati will lose interest entirely as the product ,so far as we are aware,simply isn't selling under its present designation.this just leaves us with the last hope of progress with FDA which would i think give some grounds for positivity.even there i suspect the response from the investor community would be underwhelming based on previous responses to good news re other approvals but i hope it would at least result in clawing back some of the losses here if we can make progress.just my take and the finals will i hope be interesting in view of the number of areas where news is awaited but not holding my breath that we will be give any great detail.we shall see.

Hyns FSP concluded today.recommended offer at 72.8% premium to s/p before process began in middle of november and 62.4% to yesterdays closing price.note that their process was not commenced as a result of several expressions of interest but rather as a result to bods decision that FSP was best way forward.not suggesting any parallels here but just found it interesting.

its just speculation of course but i have posted several times that i expect announcement next monday.its just a guess but based on the the FSP timescale outlined in the RNS which is the only factual information we have (coupled with the absence of TR1s) i did wonder if we might start to get some speculative buys today and tomorrow.if we do i think they will b exactly that ,speculation.i think the confidentiality of the negotiations etc will be strictly maintained (i do not think PHD is a cowboy type of company where leaks are more likely).i think it is too early to draw any conclusions from todays trades but pleased to see things going in a positive direction.

ok bignose thanks.so many fronts on which we are awaiting news,it really is very frustrating.as to the profit warnings they don't seem to follow a regular pattern.2017-feb and july. 2018-jan. 2019-july.perhaps i just can't see it but perhaps we are not going to get one before the finals ( no chance they have made a profit though lol)

oh i have my own action man optimist.lumsden of MTFB.i don't think he can possibly be surpassed. on a serious note it's the tech and sphere of operation which i am banking on, not necessarily the bod ,although i do think they have actually achieved a great deal. i realise others take a different view but I'm comfortable with that.

totally understand and respect your reasoning DRS1 and you may well be right.my only comment would be that I'm not sure you can rely on IIs sticking to their entry points.they make mistakes as well and over the years we have all seen situations where offers have been accepted which have been well below the break even points for substantial shareholders etc.i suppose it comes down to views about prospect etc.i do accept that the number and size of the II holdings (there are a lot of IIs for a comparatively small company) may well make matters more complicated though.time will tell.good luck whatever happens.

my take would be that this is a very tightly held share wth a very small free float.we know that none of the IIs (with the exception of L&G) have sold any shares during the FSP so i suspect liquidity is very low and that the small sales today have a magnified effect as a result.the sales todayy were really of very modest amounts. some posters have suggested (more on ADVFN than here) the the current s/p and its declining trend are clear evidence that the FSP is finished and no sale will take place.i do not share this view.part of the FSP code requires the company to ensure that the market is kept informed of developments concerning the FSP. now obviously what this means in practice may be open to interpretation and will depend on the facts of each individual process,but to my mind at the very least it would require the company to inform the market immediately if the process had stalled or if there has been a substantive change to the position as outlined in the last information we had .accordingly it seems reasonable to assume that matters are still progressing as previously outlined and my interpretation of the time scale given is that we are well into the final stage of the FSP.my personal expectation is that it will conclude within the next few days (my guess is next monday but its just a guess) and i personally expect an offer although it is probably going to be somewhat less than many were hoping for or expecting at the start of the process.all just my opinion of course.

pleasure.as i say no idea if its of any real significance. phd don't seem to RNS these sort of things routinely,which in some ways is a good thing imo,as for me it indicates they don't feel the need to support/ramp the s/p with every twist and turn. anyway its no doubt a small positive at the very least.gla

well we have got through another week without any TR1s.could be one on monday as there was a sale of 50000 shares this morning (looks like it was a sale from the price but you never know ),but interestingly it had no effect on the s/p and so far as i could see no effect on the L2 order book,so I'm not expectng anything on monday.we will be in the final week of the FSP next week imo although just a guess really.
