RE: DLI presentation15 Nov 2020 11:51
well i have watched both podcasts now and all was going well until in the very last minute or so of the second one Reason (a man who is obviously to humour what a black hole is to light) decided to put the boot in by saying in effect he didn't think ageing clocks were any use. "not actionable" was the phrase used. hope he's wrong. probably won't be invited back i suspect. incidentally i really would not want to work for him, even allowing for his complete lack of a sense of humour can you imagine every time he started to speak you would be thinking "here come the voice of Reason!" no couldn't put up with it I'm afraid. on a serious note i thought polina came across ok . i agree with heimdal that a bit lacking in the promotional skills and hampered somewhat by a rather heavy russian accent which made it hard to follow her at times, but a perfectly ok performance imo. main takeaway for me was that it emphasised that pure drug interventions in the longevity arena are probably lightyears away from approval, but with DLI they have measurement tools etc which may ultimately gain regulatory endorsement (the FDA was mentioned) but which in the meantime can still be used for research and assessment etc and can obviously be marketed to general consumers by way of the app. how popular it will prove I've no idea. one other thought.if it does go through and if this area becomes more central to regent how comfortable is jamie going to be in an environment of the most esoteric and technical complexity imaginable. he may be an excellent lawyer and he may know about mining and even something about PE, but epigenetics and epigenomics probably not. it may not matter of course and i may be doing him a disservice, but it doe make me wonder about his tenure. sorry for the diffuse nature of this post, but its sunday morning here and wet and windy so I'm filling in time.gla.
