The answer is to create a wearable software-configurable helmet, in which technology that doesn’t require ****pit hardware – eye-tracking, voice recognition, control haptics – is designed into wearable tech rather than the aircraft itself.

Page has been a practising human factors (HF) engineer at BAE Systems since 1990, when she joined the company’s research and technology department to work on developing new human-machine interface (HMI) technologies in the context of future aircraft concepts. She went on to be HF lead on two aircraft programmes: the Nimrod MRA4 (1994-99) and the Joint Strike Fighter (1999-2006). She also took on responsibility for BAE Systems’ HF integration programme that included design input and assessment to ensure “safe, reliable and efficient usage, and to increase system effectiveness”. She was also responsible for human interfaces on the F-35 combat aircraft programme. After roles in BAE Systems’ MAI (Military Air and Information), in 2015 she was appointed HF lead technologist for that sector. She is also a BAE Systems global engineering fellow.

In three decades at BAE Systems, principal technologist Jean Page has seen sweeping changes in engineering. Innovation, once dominated by the defence industry, now relies on collaboration with the medical and gaming industries.

But today, it is increasingly the gaming industry that is driving the technology,” with the defence sector noting developments and analysing their relevance. “We’re interested in eye-tracking because there are several advantages to using it. Yet we also need to make sure that it will work in a ****pit that has high ambient light and vibration. It may be a relevant technology for on the ground, if you are operating an unmanned air vehicle, but it may not be suitable for the air model. Or we might have to do something to the eye-trackers in the gaming market to make them work for us.”

Its quite entertaining at times on here. Virus Hysteria may drive the FTSE down a bit more & SEE SP may slip a bit further.

From my Vegas show visit in Jan chatting to Cenkos & SEE staff for a couple days, absolutely nothing has changed. No one else is announcing news of big wins, so we in the game still.

We know aviation Licensing is close, how many other deals are in discussion I wonder? Qualcomm wanted SEE for what? Another licensing deal in auto, or mobile phones or VR headsets? Lets wait & SEE.

Looking forward to buyin ET & Smokeys shares cheap over the next few Weeks & then putting some in my SIPP & some to trade.

After the Dow last night I was expecting it. 200 ppl outside China died in nearly 3 months. Upto 2000 day die daily of normal flu, upto 25,000 day starve to death & about 800 ppl in the same time period would of died falling off step ladders. Aids related illnesses are killing 2000 day in The World & 3000 a day and 3000 ppl die on the roads.

Dont see vehicle bans or Sex bans do we.

The World has truely gone mad with this one!

Cheers for that. Just looked and most schools off from b4 xmas to end Jan or 1st week Feb.

So January a write off as peak holidays, then 3 weeks of Feb left so March should give a better indication of numbers i guess?

Also Paul said insurance renewals kicks in March-June, so March could be a great month to see where they are.

I appreciate the effort of the fleeters, like all of us looking for clues under rocks half the time.

I had a Rock n roll bussing Company once, for my sins & we used average speed of about 40mph over 8 or 10hrs. Some days would drive 8-10 hrs and some days sit outside venues or at festivals not turning a wheel for a week. So i know its far from an exact science.

But i appreciate insights into guesses of where we are.

Great research from all you guys covering Fleet. I do have one question though. I run about 9 vehicles & always 2/3 in a garage or outside not being used on certain days. Some days all on the road.

How does that come into the equation? If ive got 50 trucks with Guardian, some will be having maintenance, some MOTs, some not used on days.
