At some point all these patents that JC & TLS talk about surely must come into play. You can’t spend nearly 20 years & over $100m + on R&D for nothing.
My theory is that they have a 2 or 3 pronged approach on License deals.
1. Licensing their own IP to OEMs & Tier 1s
2. Licensing under patent infringements
3. Licensing shared patents with the OEMs/Tier 1s they working with.
Some companies will want to use their own suppliers but the tech could be infringing SEEs IP. But also it may infringe a patent of a Ford,Merc,BMW etc. If SEE doesn’t have the client they may have the tech rights.
Paul seems excited about licensing and as it’s all complicated & drawn out in negotiations it would explain to me the delays. Our $5 million license was pre production so what does it actually include, entail etc? Anyone’s guess! Is it per unit based or just the rights to use? Or just sorting out the tech for the customer?
I would hope lots more going on than we know on the legal/patent/infringement l/negotiation side than we know. I’ve been hunting for clues everywhere. We license IP to an Tier 1 & it licenses it to a OEM. Takes time.
The car industry is secretive, add patents and licensing and it becomes even more secretive. The procedures are long winded, boring & intense but the rewards are massive in the mass market. A good example is Microsoft with Samsung being paid $1 billion in 2013.
DMS is going global mainstream & SEE hopefully are playing the game? Cannacord said in 2017 on P5-
Sustainable, competitive advantage including a proprietary AI technology platform. The company has a strong IP moat, including both patents and, as importantly we would argue, real-world application expertise, including a vast bank of data observations and analysis. A broad technology stack provides optionality for optimum value chain participation – software, silicon, systems. Industry 1st Fovio DMS Processor can enable a highly differentiated and scalable business. Strong roadmap, shaped by Human Factors research can drive selling price (“ASP”) expansion.

Can we find out how much has been spent on legal fees/consultants etc from the accounts when out? The higher the better.
The 1st patent I found from SEE goes back to 2003. Most competitors weren’t even born.

I don’t think most people understand the real value in SEE. It’s IP most don’t understand. Most don’t get it. A few do on here. How many PHD or scientists do our competitors employ? How many patents have we got in comparison? How far back do theirs go? Have the competitors got clients & friends like Merc,Ford,Mercedes & BMW?
My monies on the advisors and corporate lawyers, the Lombards etc knowing far more more than the S7s & Smokey’s of this World, that’s for sure.
No one heard of Apple, Netflix, google or Tesla once. Xilinx have 3500 patents.
SEE is mor
