It has been almost a year since the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers during Super Bowl LIV. More importantly for those of us interested in the automotive industry however, it’s also been almost a year since the first ad spots rolled for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV. In the time since the quiet revolution was announced, the electrified Hummer has garnered quite a bit of public interest. A new report from Ad Age suggests that GMC is looking to capitalize on this by releasing yet another Super Bowl ad spot.

According to the report, GMC is planning to run another ad for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV during Super Bowl LV on February 7, 2021. Unlike this year when the automaker released two ads focused on the electric pickup, it appears that GM will only be running one 30-second ad targeted at Hummer buyers next year. Ad Age also reports that another one of GM’s brands will be getting a spot during the Big Game, though they didn’t specify which brand.

The stuff of science fiction in decades past, self-driving cars are fast becoming a reality—at least to some extent. Features such as automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, and adaptive cruise control are part of the spectrum of automation, even though cars equipped with these abilities today still need a human in the driver’s seat. Whether we’re close to seeing a car pass us on the road with no one behind the wheel is debatable, but automation continues to develop as car manufacturers explore the possibilities.

Someone else may have some models in China, dont forget they doing 23 now. So no OEM will have 1 supplier for anything.

The Intel guy said to me that all the OEMs will have 2 or 3 suppliers for most things. As long as we get USA and lionshare of Cadillac & all of USA we will be just fine Iam sure :)

According to GMAuthority, the 2022 Chevy Silverado is coming with #SuperCruise. Can clearly see the distinctive green bar on the steering wheel and the IR image sensor on the steering column. Will be watching for further developments. Pickups are where it is at in the U.S. for #DMS installations. Ford F-150 is confirmed, now need to hear more about the Ram.

The human eye has various colors - black, gold, and blue. In fact, strictly speaking, the color of the eye is the color of the iris that controls the amount of light. Each person has different colors and patterns of the iris. Even both eyes of a person are different, so the probability of error is only one in a million if the system scans one eye, and the chance plunges to one in a trillion if both eyes are used. Gentex, a U.S. auto parts manufacturer, has introduced a system that recognizes the driver's iris using the infrared sensor in a rearview mirror.

Hyundai Motor Group is also developing iris recognition technology. The Driver State Warning System (DSW) developed by Hyundai Mobis would be one example. DSW is a feature that delivers a warning when the driver is not focusing on driving, and it takes a step forward from the current system that only recognizes the direction of the face or when the eyes are closed, providing a safer driving environment. It is not just looking at the movements of the eyelids, but also observing the activity of the pupils inside the iris to increase the accuracy of the detection of careless driving. This technology will be first implemented in medium and large-sized commercial vehicles, which will be introduced in 2021.

Testing new technology
The LRSSB has completed the first comprehensive study of the leading driver monitoring technology.

Two working groups have been set up to establish new standards covering track alignment design, and switches and crossings for urban rail systems.
Supported by the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board, and led by BSI, the groups are part of the ongoing work being done to develop British and Europe-wide standards and guidance.

Communication and sharing ideas, thoughts and best practice will be key to the LRSSB’s success and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues across the sector and other organisations, including the Rail Accident Investigation Branch and Office of Rail and Road, to ensure we achieve our goals.

By tracking driver attention, and responding when signs that alertness levels may be lowering, the systems tested are designed to provide additional safeguards against potential risks.
All the systems in the study use technology that monitors the percentage of eyelid closure (PERCLOS) and facial recognition techniques to detect signs of symptoms of fatigue.

But i guess she cant be in the passenger seat all the time. So they invented that ;)

Over the last twelve months, Seeing Machines’ revenue grew by 25%. We respect that sort of growth, no doubt. Buyers pushed the share price 18% in response, which isn’t unreasonable. If revenue stays on trend, there may be plenty more share price gains to come. But it’s crucial to check profitability and cash flow before forming a view on the future.
