When Storylines' first residential cruise ship launches in 2024, it will feature 547 fully furnished residences available for purchase to globe trotters who would like to live, work, and play while exploring the world. Most of the one-to-four-bedroom homes, ranging from 237 to 1,970 square feet, feature balconies and can be customized in a coastal or contemporary style. While the onboard residences are in the $1 million to $8 million range, there are also a number of homes available for as little as $600,000 on a 24-year lease basis.

Mercedes considers it safe for the driver not to pay attention to the road -- although the driver still has to be ready to take back control if needed, such as if the traffic situation changes or if the system encounters an unusual situation it's not capable of handling.
The Mercedes system is considered Level 3 Automation, as defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers. It's more automated than a Level 2 system, like Tesla's Autopilot, General Motors' Super Cruise and Ford's BlueCruise, in which the vehicle's brakes and steering operate on their own in certain situations but the driver is still required to pay attention to the road at all times.
In a Level 3 system, "You are not driving when these automated driving features are engaged - even if you are seated 'in the driver's seat,'" according to the SAE

Today, Euro NCAP releases its annual Year in Numbers where we consider the highs and lows as well some of the emerging trends that have appeared throughout one year of results. 2022 will be remembered as a record year. Never before did Euro NCAP conduct as many safety tests or have so many newcomers in the programme.

During 2022, overall, Euro NCAP published a total of 73 safety ratings, of which 67 were for brand-new car models, 15 out of 65 cars received four stars (22%), while 50 cars received five stars (78%) overall.
In contrast to 2021, no vehicles received three stars or less.

As in 2021, the EV market continues to expand quickly. In 2022, full electric vehicles made up 22 out of 65 new models, a percentage of 34% and five out of six Euro NCAP’s Best in Class winners were electric.

Seven brands made their Euro NCAP debut in 2022, six of which originate from China.

They would of done their homework & due diligence and must have own internal sales targets. Who are their OEM customers already? Its a cost effective system, makes life easy for OEMs.

Yes its time to start dropping some news and delivering for sure now. Its 2023 & Legislation kicks in soon so they need to make up their minds now.

Trouble is in the real World these OEMs are a law unto themselves i bet. Policy changes, design changes, Supplier changes b4 procurement start messing about.

I can imagine its a right ole nightmare atm, as that's the reality more than likely.

What we have on our side now is time. The clocks ticking. They need a solution and need it pretty quick If they dont want to be in a position of not having stock to sell once its law if not compliant.

Next 12 months should be good, hoping really really good but really good will be fine.

What’s at stake:
If automakers won’t assume liability for janky automated driving technology and are ready to throw customers under the bus when anything goes wrong, why then should anyone buy their vehicles?

The history books will record that January 2023 was the month the “self-driving dream” died. The venue was CES in Las Vegas, and the executioner was none other than BMW’s CEO Oliver Zipse.

Quoted in an article on the BMW Blog, Zipse admitted:

A Level 3 system, whether at 60, 80 or 120 kilometers per hour, which constantly switches off in the tunnel, switches off when it rains, switches off in the dark, switches off in fog – what’s that supposed to mean? No customer buys it.

That was the moment the commercial reality of a wacky race to put robo-drivers in cars was exposed for all to see. Those words “No customer buys it,” once said, can never be unsaid.

Not only did Zipse trash the fantasy of privately-owned autonomous passenger vehicles, he finally junked the levels of driving automation described in SAE International’s standard J3016.

They all realising driver assist is the way forward I would think…

Alphabet Inc.’s Waymo #Robotaxi Subsidiary Cuts Staff, Including Trucking Engineers

Alphabet’s self-driving vehicle unit Waymo quietly laid off staff Monday, continuing a wave of job cuts at the parent company of Google, according to LinkedIn posts from affected employees and one person briefed about the move.

The posts indicated that Waymo cut recruiters, people who help train other employees to operate the vehicles, and technical staff focused on automating semitrailer trucks. The total number of laid off “Waymonauts” at the roughly 2,500-person company couldn’t immediately be learned.
