Barclays Initiates Mobileye at Overweight With $60 Price Target

Could be heading back up to the $50b Mcap
If everything goes ahead without negative surprises, Mobileye will bank $17 billion by 2030. Beyond the traditional driver assistance system (ADAS), which generates most of its revenue with sales reaching $1.86 billion in 2022, Mobileye is focusing recently on the more complex supervision system, which also includes radars and not just cameras.

Instead, there will be many different types of autonomous vehicles, and that is where Mobileye's technology shines thanks to its assistance and warning systems for drivers.
Since the CES exhibition in January, when it became clear that there will be no level 5 fully autonomous vehicles, but rather an adoption of lower levels of autonomy (level 2.5 and level 3), Mobileye's stock has surged. Since CES, where the company held a detailed presentation, its stock has jumped by 56%.
For some time now, questions have been hovering over the grand vision of driverless vehicles. After the technology matured, it became clear that the regulation was not mature. Questions such as insurance liability and cyber threats have set the field back each time. After several painful Tesla safety incidents, the industry also realized that without almost endless hours of testing, it would not be possible to release the autonomous vehicle. There is simply no way today to predict every possible unexpected scenario on the road and conduct an appropriate experiment.

Because of this, the market is converging in two main directions - autonomous taxis (robotaxis) on designated routes within cities and on highways with the presence of a driver, but without their involvement. In the robotaxi industry, Mobileye works through collaborations with companies that manage the fleets, and has an order book of more than $3 billion in the emerging market.
CES is just the beginning, and in the coming weeks Shashua and his managers will participate in a long series of conferences organized by investment banks. If until now Mobileye was one slide in Intel's presentation, where everyone was mainly focused on the bad news, now the Israeli company is getting a lot of screen time, and it is doing so after publishing excellent financial reports for the last quarter of 2022 and providing a forecast for a handsome double-digit growth of $2.2 billion in 2023 as well. The next big thing that the market is heading towards, is the release of the driver from active driving in favor of sitting at the wheel and intervening only if necessary, subject to the warnings provided by a Mobileye-type system.
Saying goodbye to the dream of a fully autonomous vehicle for the time being reduces for Mobileye the tough competition with giants, including Google, which developed Waymo, and on the other hand may also drive away some of the competitors, for whom this prolonged intermediate stage is not attractive enough.

Sure the EV market will have lots of twists & turns yet. I thought Tesla was a steal early Jan when hit $108 and now almost doubled in 6 weeks. Investor day 1st March could be interesting!!!

My wishlist is for Tesla to announce new models with Magna DMS Mirror. That would put a rocket up SEEs Bottom & would be great for the USA event on the 8th.

Love em or hate them Tesla still No1 atm in the EV market and gets investors ears pricked.

Rivian Stock Price Prediction 2023
The price of Rivian stock has recovered slightly since the start of 2023. Nevertheless, RIVN is still trading 53% below its 2022 high of 40.86. The price has lost most to its January 2023 gains after getting rejected from $22.09 level.

This prediction comes from the confluence of December 2022 high and the 200-day moving average. However, the macroeconomic situation also seems to be favorable. Therefore, a recession in US economy would invalidate this price prediction.

Rivian Stock Price Prediction 2025
After a successful IPO in 2021, Rivian targetted a production of 15000 vehicles by the end of 2022. However, the company fell short of this target and was able to produce only 24,337 vehicles by December 2022. The company still has more than $13 billion in its cash reserves.

With Rivian’s latest production capacity, the EV maker will produce slightly more vehicles than last year. I expect the stock to trade sideways til 2025 without any significant price increase.

AURORA, Ontario, Feb. 15, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, Magna announced it is investing more than $470 million to expand its operations across Ontario, Canada. The growth includes a new battery enclosures facility in Brampton to support the Ford F-150 Lightning and future OEM programs.

In addition to the Brampton facility, Magna is growing in its locations in Guelph, Belleville, Newmarket, Windsor, and Penetanguishene. These expansions follow new business awards from various automakers in key product areas. They are also supported by $23.6 million in grants from the Ontario government to bring additional high-quality jobs to the region with ongoing training and development programs for employees.

The new and expanded operations are expected to bring more than 1,000 new jobs to Ontario over the next few years.

Production ramp-up & localization
Fisker plans to produce 42,400 units in 2023, with over 300 units in the first quarter, over 8,000 units in the second quarter, over 15,000 units in the third quarter, and the remainder in the fourth quarter. Thus, the Ocean’s availability until April 2023 will be quite limited.

With an increase in reservations for the Fisker Ocean, the brand is hoping that manufacturing partner Magna would increase output to 150,000 units in 2024, as reported by Automotive News on April 26, 2022. Magna, which holds a 6% stake in Fisker, has agreed to make 50,000 units of the Ocean annually.

Highlights of Ford Motor Company’s likely electrification plans for not just the European region but North America, Asia and elsewhere are explored below.
The Puma continues to be a big success story all over Europe and yet the little crossover has no electrification options. That’s set to change in 2024 when an EV arrives. Build will only be for three years as the second generation is due in 2027. That model should be electric-only.

Will the first of two SUVs which utilise Volkswagen’s MEB architecture use the name ‘Explorer Sport’? That’s yet to be confirmed but seems a strong bet for this made-in-Germany C segment model. It will be revealed in March.

In the size segment above the Territory EV and the two future VW-based EVs, the Mustang Mach-E is doing well. Production capability for the now two+ years old crossover is presently bring lifted in the North American region from around 60,000 units per annum to 200,000. The electric crossover is also made in China (though only 3,597 were sold in 2022 versus 39,458 in the US). There should be facelifts for each towards the end of 2024 and a fresh battery pack.

An electric Explorer is coming, Ford announced in May 2021, without saying when. It will be based on a new platform, although this is highly likely to be evolved from the existing CD6, a RWD-AWD architecture. The Explorer’s Lincoln equivalent – the Aviator – will also gain an electric variant.
The first plug-in hybrid Ranger should be revealed later in 2023 although it isn’t scheduled to go on sale in relevant countries until early 2024. The powertrain will reportedly consist of Ford’s EcoBoost four-cylinder petrol engine and a single motor. Outputs of 270 kW (362 horsepower) and 680 Nm (501 lb ft) are claimed to be the targets.

There should also be an electric variant which would be called Ranger Lightning. Production should endure for seven years, the mid-life facelift being due in late 2026.
Build of the F-150 Lightning commenced in April 2022, this electric pick-up being quite a big deal for the company. And even though production numbers are not yet anywhere near the gasoline-powered F-150’s, Ford has invested a great deal in this EV and what it represents.

A separate production facility to produce the Lightning was erected next to the Dearborn plant where F-150s are made. The EV’s body is made at Dearborn Truck but assembly takes place at the nearby Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.
Originally, the Ford said it expected to manufacture 80,000 units a year of the truck. However in January 2022, the firm said that annual build capacity would rise to 150,000 units a year by mid-2023.

The requirements of CIS chips for intelligent vehicle are much higher than those of mobile phone CIS. Take OmniVision OX03J10 chip as an example, as an automotive-grade chip it has passed AEC-Q100 Level 2 certification and ASIL B functional safety certification; it also has high dynamic range and LFM (LED Flicker Mitigation) function.

By application scenario, automotive CIS can be subdivided into three categories: CIS for ADAS, CIS for ****pit, and CIS for image (mainly for human eyes, such as surround view & rear view). According to Yole's forecast, by 2026, CIS for ADAS will reach 100 million pieces, CIS for automotive images (e.g., surround view & rear view) will reach 182 million pieces, and CIS for ****pit will reach 82 million pieces.

The latest CIS for ADAS in general has reached 8 megapixels and the dynamic range is starting to reach 140 dB, as shown in the following figure:

CIS for ****pits generally has a high frame rate (60fps or more), often with a global shutter, and integrated technology allows the driver monitoring and occupant monitoring system to operate effectively with one camera instead of two.

In 2022H2, ST introduced Vx1940, a next-generation hybrid dual-shutter image sensor that builds on VB56G4A, the first-generation ****pit CIS product, to monitor the entire vehicle interior, covering the driver and all occupant spaces. New target applications for this new image sensor include driver monitoring, video calling, occupant seat belt detection, vital signs monitoring, child presence detection, gesture recognition and high-quality video recording and photography, with a single sensor covering all DMS and OMS applications.

The rapid shift in China to BEVs has direct implications for Stellantis as it tries to retrench in the world’s largest economy; one competitive advantage for drivers attempting to cross the vast country may be hydrogen technology. Stellantis is unusual in engineering the same vehicles to be built with either batteries or hydrogen fuel cells.

The i7 is the first BMW in the US with the new Driving Assistant Plus hands-free safety system. When it works, it’s excellent. Akin to GM’s Super Cruise or Ford’s BlueCruise, BMW’s hands-free system automatically activates on a select number of highway systems throughout the US and offers steering, braking, and acceleration inputs depending on the flow of traffic. I felt comfortable keeping my hands off the wheel over long stretches of highway and letting the i7 handle most of the legwork.

The automotive industry in India became the fourth largest industry in the world in 2019, surpassing Germany in terms of sales. India now plans to surpass Japan to become the third largest auto market by 2023[1], only leaving China and US to be ahead of it in terms of sales. The Government of India aims to develop India as a hub for global manufacturing as well as research and development. India has set up National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project Centers to promote research and development in the industry [2].
