Those companies release audited earnings reports. They do not report losses just to hide from their shareholders that they are secretly profitable. And yes, amazon and apple can hide their streaming budget under their 1 trillion mattress

Another cool Hulu point: It and Netflix are the only profitable major streaming services. Some small ones, like BritBox and Crunchyroll, may also be profitable — but since they do not report financials, we can only guess.

Cinema is seasonal so why you are putting 333m per month is beyond me. Jan and feb are the usual Lull period and march already showed a packed lineup.

Apple and amazon has their streaming as an extra side service. They can hide their cost to their massive revenue elsewhere..

You need to check pure streaming services: Disney plus, paramount plus, hulu, peacokc, hbo, and netflix. I do not know all of them.

The reason those 'coming soon' movies from franchises are already in the calendar is because they are film franchises and sequels. You are getting sample bias. Did anyone see Cocaine bear coming as a hit? Or Everything everywhere all at once? Or how well Sing 1 will do?

We are currently 27% ahead YTD of 2022. We are not even starting summer when majority of the revenue happens. Add to that the increased number of releases, and increased spending per person.

The consensus is that the revenue miss in 2022 is due to not having enough movies to show due to studio downtime and the studios spacing out their releases to avoid possible lockdowns. Both are no longer true. But hey, i am not an expert at everything.

Star wars and LOTR are corporate trying to extract as much value from IP as possible. Only reason they are not doing movies is that their movies flopped. See The hobbit and the prequels. The opposite is Iron Man 4(which was supposes to be armour wars series)
Streaming is a loss making endevour for studios not named netflix and will continue to be so.

More movies will be made and because there is incentive to make the movie good(so people will pay to watch them) the quality will remain higher. See how studios are stepping up back into making movies again.

In netflix, you pay for every content you don't watch.

The problem is that you are seeing movies as only the franchises. There is more to movies than fast and furious 12 or something. I already lost count.

New creative writers, directors, actor, studios, etc will make more new movies. Some surprise hits or new series of movies will show up. A new genre or an enhanced experience with the help of new tech like IMAX or 3/4DX. Spending per person can and will increase.
