@plantpower the U.K. is hard work, genedrive have distributors in other territories with larger test demands so I suspect it’s simply what markets represent the easiest sales

Distribution already in Asia Pacific, India and Africa via their existing distributors. Guys this is going to be huge in terms of sales

@scart if you go back to when these tests were made there would have been a limited number or samples to validate the test on. What tends to happen there is they would have used a smaller number of known samples to run their test against. This invariably flatters the performance. Over time more real samples would have been tested and the real performance would become clearer. Normally this is done in blind clinical trials in numbers proportionate to the level of testing required. This obviously wasn’t possible so manufacturers went on the best data they had to hand. A great example is Abbott’s 10 minute test.. turned out to not perform as expected...

@scart the false negative rate will be to 1.8%, basically the difference between the actual result and the expected result is the test sensitivity... inconclusive tests are often removed from the sensitivity calculation as they are neither positive or negative and throw a retest result, like Schrödinger's cat they are both and neither positive or negative so count be counted.

Unless a test has 100% sensitivity and 100% specificity the one thing you can guarantee is that a test will give false negatives so all tests in effect give false negatives where the level of virus (below the LOD) or the presence of interfering substances cause the test to provide a negative result.

What you can’t say is that the NcYT test performs any better or worse without seeing those sensitivity and specificity data from a larger data set across different clinical settings.

The genedrive test has many benefits not least the fact that there is no mixing and more sample can be added to the test that other tests that need reconstituting before adding sample. This is important because other tests are failing due to the sample step, too little virus going into the PCR.

It will streamline the workflow and take steps out, making it cheaper (less hands on time) and more reliable (less steps). That has knock on benefits to cost (more reliable so fewer retests and less labour cost).

Add all those to the benefit of a second point of care test meaning that as well as a high throughput lab based test we will also have a portable test for mobile testing that can be taken out and about for testing in the community.

Genedrive deserves to have a much higher market cap. These coming days, weeks and months should see the business set up as a bonafide international go-to diagnostics business.

@peckham I agree but I think it will be some form of mobile testing centres allowing people not get an encrypted pass showing they've been tested in the last 7 days, something like that. Not test before you enter as 45 mins is too long to wait...
