Actually, on rereading my post, I can see why you might have thought that. I feel that LKs target of 1000bopd came from what he believed he could achieve from our existing assets at the time (Goudron, Icacos, Bonasse etc), using workovers and reactivations to accomplish this. I believe he discovered that Goudron was riddled with more issues than he had anticipated, some he couldn't defeat, many he did, hence the increase in production from NRs reign. I have to admit, I do believe that the Goudron issues created a threat to his target, leading to purchases of new assets that he may have otherwise have acquired later. 'Fig Leave' is what the BOD had noted and commented on at the AGM. Nonetheless, if I am in fact wrong to think that LKs purchases were an emergency purchase in order to hit his stated target, and he genuinely purchased the assets in accordance with his acquisition planning, then perhaps he always anticipated the WF showing results by Xmas to enable that target to be reached. We could stay up all night debating the unknown possibilities and logic of why LKs made particular moves...I guess we must wait and see.

"However the most recent figures from Goudron and all the chatterers on here suggest that Goudron will be woefully short of 1000 and the recent acquisitions will be needed to achieve that figure". Nobody could possibly know when the WF results will begin to show, as a result, we must all assume that Goudron alone will not hit 1000bopd by Xmas, but at the same time, neither can we just ignore the possibililty that it might begin to show by Xmas. Anyway, as I have said many times before to others, most of us are here for SWP, WF, the workovers etc, these will all add towards our final goal, inline with the 3-5yr plan.

...and who's to say that LK isn't silently anticipating Goudrons WF projects hitting that 1000bopd by Xmas, without the other purchases he mentioned in the roadmap?

Check the original road map, those acquisitions are suggested within.

Phillipy, I don't believe there was any jam promised , other than 1000bopd by Xmas'18, followed by WF and SWP....unless I missed Xmas of course? ;)

Agreed, although I hate saying this, as it's been part of my pain in the past, I also now believe that the alluvial contractors are just around the corner too. At the time that CB announced the previous RNS regarding the phases of the Omnia HR projects, I did give CB a small credit for keeping on schedule with his original plan, and as a result, believe he will deliver the last phase in time as well. Regarding FB, I remember before Omnia was even elected as HR operator, I didn't see FB as a massive earner due to the fact that such a big slice of the pie would go elsewhere for developing and operating etc. Since Omnia has come on board as HR operator, FB has become quite the opposite imo, and I would rather have FB thrown into the Omnia deal than an alternative....unless CB pulls another blinder on us which would be brilliant. As for Zim acquisitions, you know my view there, but I have this feeling that if we do make a move, VAST maybe involved as they have been making plans in Zimbabwe for a while now....that is pure speculation mind, and probably influenced by the fact my brother holds VAST shares and that it would be nice to see our companies work together. I'm not against any move to Zim, I just have a timing preference. I don't know, something tells me that this Xmas maybe more merry than most. I think we all deserve it anyway, or soon after.

The capital inflow is still greater than that going out. Besides, all is still good, the markets have now had a little taste of a rise, and confidence is clearly being generated, as evidenced by the last two days, off the back of an RNS who's benefits are mostly still to come. People will buy, people will sell, atleast the continuous downtrend has now been broken.

We will only require a placing if CB wishes to make a move into Zimbabwe, as he has noted before, but that may not necessarily be anytime soon. We certainly don't need cash for keeping lights on, that was last week's debate. I would prefer to stay away from a Zim acquisition for now, but with a rising SP, backed by obvious growing confidence, it may work out ok.
