My thoughts - poor decision making by CEO - there were non dilutive alternatives , eg. disposal of USA. He should go. We now have a company where there is doubt on the wisdom of the board and that means we need a risk premium - so yield needs to be above 6% implying a slightly lower sp than we have to day.Some time before confidence is restored.

Just bought another £3k as the sp looks too beaten up for a small sale in the circumstances.

Balanced, I am not here to 'save o and g mug punters' as you suggest but to share my cynicsim. Another share I owned misled its investors , went bust and ruined some people's lives , according to them. There is a pattern amongst certain aim directors to paint overly optimistic pictures and anyone can read through this latest RNS and see it for what it is - a desperate attempt to keep the lights on imho.

So if the shares that the ceo sold were part of a pledge and lending arrangement , does that make the sale less of a worry? I tend to think so but would like to learn of others views.

Balanced - I am no paid troll, just an aim investor with burnt fingers who likes to call out the bs that fleeces honest people of the hard earned savings. I see it as a good thing to provide a reality check when the rampers get going.

I am thinking that confirmation that the results are as previously guided justifies a much higher sp than we have today - why well last year when we had similar profit levels the sp was over £2 and the prospects with a summer of sport ahead are even better!

Here's another moan, why does the company keep the US business when the returns are minimal? Pay rates can be justifiably higher in multinational companies and imv that is the prime selfish reason - there is no synergy just extra expense which the US regulators strike out from allowable costs. Shocking behaviour imv.

Here is some good news - the gas network provides 4 times the energy of the elctricity network which means that a switch to electricty will totally overload the electricty network in almost every street in the UK , even allowing for the great er efficiencies of heat pumps, and that is before people drain even more power ofr their ev's. So why is that good news? Well quite simply the electricity newtork has taken over 100 years to build and it is un feasible to think that it can be dupliacted over the next 10-15 years even if we could afford it . There is insufficient skilled labour, insufficient cabling and transormers and we have the complication over crowded highways [ both traffic and utilities] in which to lay the additional cables. So pratical problems will save the day and net zero will be scaled back. The government have produced an impact paper of this infrastructure challenge but it is hopelessly optimistic imv. Prof Dieter helm also thinks it will not happen. - but we might go bankrupt before then .lol.

Have at a stroke reduced shareholder value by10% and Pettigrew should resign. The alternatives were to sell off the US business which has offered no returns or sell off the interconnectors and avoid the capital raise. One thing is for certain the regulator, under a labour government will screw down on shareholder returns for utilities.

Poor decision by Pettigrew - he should go. The company could have sold the interconnectors or hived off the US business and avoided the capital call. Destroyed around 10% of shareholder value with the rights decision.

Why such a deep discount? Because interest rates will remain around 5% in USA and hence UK for the next few years and that means utility companies have to offer returns above that figure - therefore the sp here will fall - therefore to ensure success for the issue [ and easy money for the banks] the hopeless ceo has agreed to the discount.

Wrt rates cuts - Bailey will want to please his new boss Starmer and therefore wont cut rates in June IMV.

Negative market reaction - why? scared of cost of program? makes no sense to me.

Just topped up a smidgen below 120 - in anticipation that the results cant be that bad and the imminent summer of footie and olympics will enable an up beat forecast!
