Ibjj....Lol...I was wrong in some ways (true) in others not because my current position is break even from a big loss so I did something right.

The government has four outstanding applications...the Green Party have probably has a major influence in blocking them and the government is now under pressure also on a green ticket to deliver the minerals that Sweden is famous for. Kurt cannot make he government do anything, I'm surprised you don't recognise that and litigation will get us no where fast. The government will act in it's own time but they will have to deliver eventually.
CSP was financial man and the right man at the time now we have Kurt with the right expertise to start a mine, which he will eventually, I hope. We should stand by him and give him support.

Soon would be good enough for me...any part of the summer. What price should you be prepared to pay for getting new mines?

- I think we have such strong legislation in general that balances these things so that it is possible to reconcile business activities and mines with other values. We must think so. We cannot see that they are in conflict with each other, it becomes unfair. The dilemma for us is that if we do not have this activity here then you should break cobalt in China or Congo with conditions that are worse for the environment and for the workforce.

Industrial employers raise Sweden's labor costs, which are internationally high as a major problem.

How big is the problem you think?

- It is so small in the context when there is much else that costs, but if you have educated people and attractive society then you must have conditions for the employees who are good and we should charge taxes at such a level that we can finance welfare and service, says Niklas Nordström.

- The other things are much more important. We must have a fast and secure exercise of authority in order to give permission for mines and that we drive from the policy so that it becomes the investment infrastructure and we ensure that the education system works and provides the right skills.

There are no challenges for the basic industry which, in addition to increased production rates, risk facing a staff shortage in the future. SSAB is one of the largest employers in the county, but on their horizon there are also 40-talists' ongoing retirement.

- We have no emergency situation today, but we also have large retirements and this is an area where we must be alert. We do not just want employees, but we want the best employees, says Nils Edberg.

- The most important thing I think is that we get a picture of what we really are, that we are an important part of society here, have attractive jobs and are at the forefront of sustainability. If we can create that image, I think the other things are going.

In more than one way, climate change can be the fate issue for Norrbotten. On Wednesday, the Industrial Employers (IA) gathered for a conference in Luleå. Currently, Niklas Nordström (S) and Nils Edberg, place manager at SSAB in Luleå, did.

- The climate issue has raised much of the view of the basic industry. If we are to manage the climate change, Norrbotten, with its riches, is a basic requirement, says the municipal council.

What conditions exist in Norrbotten today to strengthen the basic industry?

- There is a tremendous knowledge here, a university that educates and high school with technology college. Our society is organized to provide the industry with knowledgeable people, raw materials and energy.

Nordström's assessment is that base increment will account for strong growth in the near future as the raw materials produced here will be crucial in the climate issue.

- The special metals that you are looking for here will be crucial when we are going to build the electric vehicles of the future.

LKAB reports record production and distributes profits, but the mining company is relatively alone in the market in Norrbotten as seen in the number of companies that have stomped in the starting blocks to start mines.

What changes are needed?

- We need more positive legislation for mines. It is difficult for us in Luleå to influence the national legislation, but we see many mines who want to get started but do not.

As large industrial players such as SSAB and LKAB reduce their staff through streamlining and conversion to automation, new start-ups of employers in the county, mines or other can just be things that could generate jobs for Norrbotten, Nordström believes.

- We will probably see that it is the new supplements, like new mines, together with the processing of raw materials that will be important.

Nordstrom also believes that there are peripheral effects of a prosperous basic industry.

- When the basic industry is doing well, the hospitality industry and the service and consulting industry are doing well.

But a number of interests conflict with the desire to start up mines such as the environment, nature conservation and reindeer herding.
