YBHK, on nearly every level you really shouldn’t risk it, as it is high risk etc. as everyone has rightly pointed out. However, sometimes opportunity knocks. No advice, but if I was you (and luckily for you you aren’t me!), i might just be tempted, given the positive vibes and momentum building. I have been investing for 40 odd years, and this is one of the biggest “gamble” investments I have made, and I am not selling any shares at the current price. There are some really good and experienced people in this share, all of whom do not want to lose any cash. You need to weigh up the pros and cons For you and make a decision, it is what we have all done. Good luck to you

Hi, a share consolidation should have zero impact, as market capitalisation remains the same, just fewer shares worth more. Advantages are institutional investors tend to shy away from penny stocks. Disadvantage is PI’s tend to like penny shares! It should make no real difference, increase in companies value depends on what the company delivers. Re US market, the boss should know better than anyone!

Guys, seems to be so much talk about RNS Monday or not, but it really doesn’t matter. The important thing is we have been told that the business plan is being torn up as they are massively over achieving and news on firm contracts etc should be very soon. All this is very positive for the share price, I would expect an excellent day Monday and the rest of next week. The interview alone should see renewed interest and momentum, backed up by RNS’s whenever they appear. The long term for the share feels a lot more certain today than it did last week. IMHO

Guys, I rarely post but am an experienced investor. I hold 19 million shares in SYME intend to sell none under 5p. However, I feel sorry for Mornington as he has been a good poster, and quite understandably got spooked by negative articles over the weekend. It is his money and his risk, and he did the honourable thing of advising people this morning. When in a share one feels nervous, when out of the share one feels just as bad! Reading earlier posts, he seems to have introduced a lot of people to this share (not me, I was an Abal investor!) and made people a lot of money. Personally I think he has been brave to sell (not selling and buying more is a weakness of mine!), and I wish him every success (except with his SYME sale for my personal reasons!). Mornington, you seem a decent enough guy, thanks for your input and hopefully the half of your holding in SYME will still make you rich. Oh and Weatherdeek, some seriously good posts, thanks for all the great info. GLA

I have seen several posters asking about the process and timescales that can be expected. I was a shareholder in AMER (an oil company based in Columbia) which undertook the same strategy and ultimately a sale. However please note from my experience with that sale:
1. No bids are made public and the board just announced the one that they accepted. I would not expect any details or names of companies other than the one accepted (if there is one) due to secrecy and non disclosure.
2. The process took several months, as due diligence needs to be undertaken by any interested company and this takes companies sometime, especially when the company being acquired is based abroad.
In summary, from my experience, this may take slightly longer than some are hoping for. However, a sale was achieved with AMER in 2019, fortunately just before the oil price plummeted! Hope this helps and GLA

DIFTK, the offers there and remains, having said that flights and park tickets are no small cost, so free accommodation is only a small part of the total. DIFTK, moved by your post and taking a profit is never wrong. Went through divorce about 10 years ago so feel your pain. I have a villa in Orlando about 10 minutes from Disney, if you want to take the kids there have two weeks on me, memories are far more important than this money we all talk about every day. Damn, I had forgotten about that!! You are absolutely right havegun, that is the last fly in the ointment, surely it should now be closed and everyone move on (wishful thinking I expect!). Fingers crossed for a quick resolution after all the waiting over the last 6 years! GLA

As a LTH it looks like we might be nearing the end (well I hope so!). By my estimations we now have just over £80m in cash (£37m from Escrow, £19m from Canadian sale and say £35m as reported at half year stage less all costs say max £10m) against the market cap of say £66m. I would hope that once the Canadian sales has gone through this Friday (7th Feb) we will quickly (next week?!) hear about a return to shareholders. I would be very disappointed if this was not more than the current share price, making these a good short term buy in my opinion. Anyone see this any differently? Thanks

Bumblingfool, I don’t get it! You sold most of your holding around .6p under the cash offer price because you feel a no vote will see the price fall, and voted no! A yes vote and you would have had more cash! Seems totally illogical to me!

JTD, thanks for your comment which as usual is sound and well considered. I will of course keep an open mind, it has been my job to do so. However I do wonder if the people who have vehemently said they are voting no will be doing the same??!! Regards, and thanks for some really informative posts.

Baxi, thanks for your post and I respect your views. Personally I would tend to believe the Board (who you rightly say) have considerable stakes in the company over people on a Bulletin Board who have probably never visited South America, Columbia, or any of Amer’s business, or even bothered to go to an AGM. Personally I would prefer experts rather than BB posters to be in charge and determining the fate of my investments. A lot of people spout a lot of rubbish on these chat groups, although I like you have been impressed over the years with the knowledge and expertise of 3 posters on this site. I watched other boards with people ramping up Companies that since went bust, their advice is not always that good! As I say, each to their own, but from my experiences tread carefully. Personally I am praying for a higher offer but it seems unlikely, in which case I will trust the Board have done as much as they can and more than bulletin board posters could do

I again urge some caution and more understanding of what is being planned here. I am a private investor with 1.5m shares who has worked in the city for some 20 years. I totally share the frustrations being aired, and I have been a shareholder for over 10 years. What you are doing is voting down and probably removing the board. Who will then run the company and how will you realise more value than the best offer anyone has given for the company? If it is worth more someone else will put come forward, I haven’t seen any company do this yet. You will he left with an oil company in management disarray with assets in South America (not a great place) and a share price much lower than it is at the moment. Your voting, although understandable due to the frustration we all share, will in my honest opinion make you a lot poorer and I cannot see any feasible plan B. How do you expect more value to be extracted? There are a few very knowledgeable posters on this site, but also a lot who aren’t. I want more, we all do, but please understand what you might be doing by voting no. Please no abuse due to my alternative view, I do have some experience in these matters, and personally think this has not been fully understood or thought through by many on this site. I will say no more, as I don’t often, or Even like posting. Good luck all.
