I have been a holder for over 10 years and have 1.5m shares. Although bitterly disappointed at the final offer, if you vote it down the Board will resign and the shares will plummet. Ultimately the Board know more than any of us, and voting against them sounds clever but in my experience will wipe masses off the value of the company. I will reluctantly vote for the offer and would suggest others do the same.

I see it slightly differently. “Conclude the formal sales process” is not the same as completing the sales process in my opinion. I think receiving our cash and/or shares could well be H1 next year should a sale go through, but the bidding and agreement process will be completed by the end Q4. This is just my reading and understanding of the last RNS, and the length of time a takeover normally takes once agreed. Fingers crossed we get the right outcome ASAP!

What has changed is the February deadline! The position in my view is worsening as each month goes by, with fossil fuels ultimately doomed and the time for the project to happen. I have been invested for about 5 years, topped up and am on a very hefty loss. However I have started reducing my exposure as sales around 14p are better than the Deb and TCG outcomes, showing a wipe out is a clear option. I will keep a few, but reduce my exposure by over 50%. That way I have fun if it ever happens but keep a fifth of my shirt if not! Everyone should have their own strategy’s and follow their own instincts, good luck all.

I disagree, the debt is manageable and a decent sale of Kier Living will wipe the majority out. People I speak to in the industry don’t believe Kier will go bust. So long view for me is why I have, and remain, invested. But it is not without a degree of risk of course! Good luck with whatever you decide to do

Good answer! This is a bet (rather than investment) that the company doesn’t go bust. If it survives in reasonable health (which I believe it will), the current forecast p/e of under 3 does not look demanding! May be a roller coaster ride and would not recommend unless you have a stomach for rollercoasters. I own 40,000 shares and am holding hoping for £2 plus. Regards and good luck

Love you, sorry but totally disagree. It is not the Banks job to decide the strategy of the company, that is the directors job. The issue is not the Banks, but a totally useless board who are not reading the market they are working in, amending strategies quickly enough, and continue to blame other things such as Brexit where the vote occurred years ago! The problem is very much with our inadequate management who have dug us a hole with no plan to get out (other than fire sell assets!!). They should be totally accountable, but appear to keep their well paid jobs however much they mess up!

Guys, Daniel has a really valid point of view as do others. Personally I agree with him, but actually like everyone on here it is purely guesswork. I hope it all comes right but as Daniel and it say, please done be blind to the very possible downside. The share price is currently speaking as well, people don’t normally make an easy 100% overnight (although occasionally it can happen). GLA and we should know pretty soon!

It’s just if you are investing your hard earned cash into something a little research and understanding such as JD Sports amd Sports Direct being totally different companies is useful! Beers? Hi Stewart, yes selling at a loss is something I rarely do as is posting on here! But as a seasoned investor I felt having read the board for months, others should be aware what a normal investor is doing. Also some on here worry me, Debs is nothing like Foot (which I also hold) and when will some realise foot is being bought by JD Sports, absolutely nothing to do with MA! The knowledge and research of a few on here leaves me wondering whether to laugh or cry! Good luck to you, hope you make a packet here and elsewhere

Thanks Knigelk. I am a gambler and have a far bigger holding in GCM, which is just as risky! It’s just that I have a nasty feeling about Debs (and don’t trust MA), which I do hope is wrong. Good luck with the day trading and I hope you are very successful.

Having weighed up pros and cons, I have just sold my 500,000 shares at a £12k loss. Didn’t do it lightly, but I do not believe MA will pay a penny more than he needs to, and I have a feeling a 1p a share offer like Flybe maybe all we see. For those that are hanging on I hope you are right and wish you every success, but I decided for me that the risks outweigh the rewards (in the past I have always held on, maybe I have learned or maybe I have been burned too many times!). Yes, but at least it wasn’t raining and it was good to have a coffee with a few fellow investors. I heard one of the protestors tell the a police he didn’t really know what it was about but had come to give solidarity with fellow protestors! Do people have nothing better to do! Great to meet half a dozen other shareholders, just a shame it was on the street locked out of the meeting! Did anyone get in before the rabble arrived and what was the mood etc of Tang and other directors on the prospects going forward? Thanks

Hi, does anyone know for certain if the Takeda shares will be able to be held in an ISA, as my Shire holding currently is in my ISA. I have tried to read through the 100’s of pages of takeover paperwork but can’t find a reference to it. Thanks

Para, yes I seem to always be signing a W8-BEN. I think it is every two years for the stocks, but I also have to complete them for my US Bank account and US property!! Fortunately they are one of the simpler US forms! With regard to charges, I am with Lloyd’s stockbrokers and I am ashamed to say I don’t know if there are hidden charges in the FX rates, I have never checked! I am just pleased that they do allow foreign stocks to be held on their platform! Good luck with your investigations.

Para, best way round it is to have your shares held in a nominee account, then all the divs are converted and paid to your cash account with the nominee in sterling, no charges whatsoever. I have a few US stocks and it isn’t a problem at all and no extra charges. Regards

Lud, totally agree. Today seems to be in reaction to fridays late RNS about the delisting and the selling by institutions as a result. Personally I would now hold and take the value of the bid, part cash and part shares. Takeda shares seem bombed out and will hopefully recover over the medium term to give a nice profit. GLA, I am looking forward to my first direct Japanese share holding!

FYI, I make the value of the takeover worth £48.40 at the moment, with Takeda shares at 4240, yen exchange rate 144 and US$ rate 1.28. This compares to the current Shire share price of £46.94, which is now only about 3% below the full offer

Ali, the vote by the Takeda shareholders to pass the deal is the 5th Dec (ie early hours tomorrow). As long as that goes through I believe the deal will complete around the 8th January. The dates and details can all be found online
