A lot of trades have been rolled for a future payment but they are insisting they can meet demand. However they have 359803 contracts outstanding to settle for June futures with an order of 36 Million ounces so how can that be met? The price of Gold is USD25 an ounce higher in NY rather than London shows concerns - all mentioned in Mining news. That is one hell of an order book. I cannot see Gold prices falling for some time yet. One person familiar with the matter told me the big fund managers are Hedging their stocks for safety against Gold in the coming Days/Weeks for some security to their Pensions books. The new few weeks could prove very fruitful to us. IMHO.

Metals markets finished in the end with both Gold and Silver up when looked upon in GBP. (Gold rated in sterling is not far off all time highs!) Happy days and certainly not related to the finishing Hochschild price which hopefully will catch up when trading starts Monday in the new UK tax year, as no doubt we today were affected by day traders selling to meet this years UK CGT allowances.

No point holding great amounts of Gold when you can invest in a Miner. I was talking to my man at the Prud today and he agreed they find Miners more attractive than holding the Gold metal themselves. I agree with them when considering costs of storage, Insurance and the need to pay a commission on sales. It is far better to invest in a Miner and they also pay divis. With Gold in Sterling at all time highs they are in a better position than there were (if even they do not mine short term). In fact the shortage of Gold is one reason the price is so high according to the ETF's reports of yesterday.

Safe haven status from both sides of the pond, plus increased earnings for Fresnillo from Dollar gains against Sterling helps us a great deal with earnings. One of the best shares to be in at the moment as the World needs to shelter.

Although my Gold charts comparing to Bloomberg charts show on the NYSE Gold up for both Spot and Comex when we factor in the falling sterling after dreary uk service data figs we are not surprised to see any Company such as Hochschild future earnings increasing due to the currency benefits as Sterling falls against the dollar. I am pretty sure we will turn this share around for the positive in the next half an hour when people realize this on their own charts.

Not surprised we are on the up now - Bloomberg index now also showing gains for Gold Spot and Comex futures in USD, I have us up even more in GBP. which is not to be unexpected with the low level of Uk service sector figures being released today. Our earnings will increase proportionately with lower sterling than high and so we will get a second bonus from holding this share. i.e. Increased earnings over the currencies and the additional safe haven status.

In fact both up now for spot over 1%.

Maybe instead of buying hard physical Gold they should start coming in here and the other precious metal miners (which was what they used to be in). I suppose in the end they may have no choice to support their pensions as I have said. Apparently in Hargreaves Lansdown's daily report European Insurers have now been told to protect their dividends and so our European brothers are becoming very concerned about their own Insurers ability to pay their dues.

At this rate the Pension providers to protect their pensions with the rest of the markets falling will have no choice but to seek out the securities of ETF's in the precious metals markets. In could well come down to that soon. Most must have lost 30% or more and they cannot continue to afford to do this to support their pension liabilities. Short term and a longer terms I see this as a safer place to be.

Gold spot up too. Maybe we will now respond in afternoon trading positively after the UK taxpayers have taken their CGT allowances from past profits, the precious metals miners being the only place that will have this?
Lets see what this afternoon now brings us.

If the Gold safe haven status is maintained we will rise this afternoon. Silver now level pegging after morning falls and is expected to rise this afternoon. Fingers crossed.

Thanks Cowichan -Precious metals shortages will help drive up prices further. A good time for Centamin to increase production and sales at others expense. I am sure this year first qtr figs will show some very good results. I also hear whereas many that were in long term Gold ETF'S sold a few weeks ago to cash in on the stock market falls bloomberg are reporting increased purchases of ETF's now compared to last year and it is felt many now might be returning from stocks having miscalculated where they felt the stock market was at the bottom. The US Jobless jump figs confirm this thinking. More ETF purchases with less World production = increases in the PM market prices as you have realised.

I was told the same, however if one does not buy the same number of shares perhaps one could argue they are not the same being bought back under the bed and breakfast rules. Another option might be to use ones wifes allowances as well or even have her buy some shares instead, or alternatively I believe a husband and wife can exchange and move investments around as long as it is to not deliberately avoid tax. My feeling is I do not live my life as last minute.com and so always prepare in advance. However if anyone wanted to sell shares to avoid a loss perhaps they should be selling banks or a airline or two that will stay down for a while yet rather than one likely to rise tomorrow. Sounds like Rebess you might need to conduct some quick research before making your calculated best judgement or talk to an accountant?

We should also move up fast in the morning. If we keep production low or nil then the demand over supply will be even greater-happy days!!

Always sell at the start of March now is the time to buy everyone else's. To be honest I would not be selling this share or our FTSE other precious metals miners as you may well then have to pay a lot more for them later. i.e. Gold and Silver tonight still flying up Gold currently at USD1618 and Silver for all HOC and FRES holders is up over 4%. They should Fly in the morning if our Eastern friends continue purchasing their ETF's overnight - Happy days!!

Happy days for Fresnillo shareholders. Maybe not so good news for those who sold and are hoping the share price will fall.
It looks like the double of USA job numbers to an unbelievable 10 Millions have prompted the need for people to come out of other securities to go into precious metals. The shortage helped us here too. So the longer the miners cannot mine the higher the prices will go up. A win, win at the moment for miners with stock in the ground as well as unsold stock in trade.

Happy days for all of those who held out and do not have to come back in at a higher price.

Agree those in favour with the new appointment with the relevant experience necessary for expansion of Centamin into the new mine and other prospective mines in future. His appointment will be well met too by the Egyptian authorities.
