I have looked at my most recent posts and they are all reliable, even anticipating a lockdown in Germany and France. It is a shame some look past my comments and miss my points. Lots of opportunity out there. For my Marstons shareholding you will see that Barchild is one who does not want to know how many I hold and indeed some have preferred that I keep this private which I will now do.
The lockdown in Germany and France is a situation that they would not want to be in. Boris is trying all he can to avoid one but he might have to have one eventually unless this vaccine is ready as winter is coming and the situation is likely to get worse before it gets better. Not my feelings here but the medical opinion. Carlsberg own figs released today perhaps you should comment on those as whatever I say will be criticised. Good luck with your own choices. Most shares are cyclical after all, and there are lots of choices out there now too. i.e. Even my banking shares have recovered very well recently on the back of some astonishing profits - so it always pays to spread risk which might give you some more conversation.

Well apart from Aston Martin where Mercedes are to take 20% and Kaz which has received an approach.
It looks like the French and Germans are now seriously considering a complete lockdown for a month so this is likely to affect sentiment and have a rub off effect. We know Carlsberg will be seriously concerned with Europe so the deal might be delayed but don't fret if it is as it is only a matter of time - but perhaps now might not be the right time? Time will tell I suppose which is why I am being careful.

Where did you get the £580. i.e. Marstons on their release refer to receiving initially for their share :-
"We expect the initial net proceeds from the sale of Marston’s Beer Company into the joint venture
with Carlsberg will be around £230 million. These proceeds will be used to further reduce the level
of bank debt" -presume on the Pub Estate and debt they are left with on their own with less earnings from brewing going forward with a reduced share of the JV to 40%. I suppose we do not know what Carlsberg are bringing to the party with their 60% of the JV apart from well needed cash to reduce debt? see link below dated 15th October

Just switched on Bloomberg looks like the failure of the USA Stimuli before the election results is starting to pull down the market. I also see the precious metals (Gold slightly up at the moment and Silver holding to indicate if either party wins they will introduce the long awaited stimuli and we will then respond positively so to us a win/win.
Razor I agree with you -no rush to recover we just need to wait a little bit longer and longer term this is still a safer bet to have in ones portfolio than most other shares (all things considered) in my opinion.

Gep are CEY suffering as a result? How much cash do they have in the bank? Do you feel costs are tax deductible and shared with the relevant Egyptian authorities in any case? You might want to read some posts from those with their feet in the pit? Did you listen to the recent corporate video release on maintenance to sustain in the future over 500,000oz per year and up from current levels. Also it is felt the earth movement was partly caused by excess water where pumps are to be deployed to sort. In June the price of gold was approx. 1600oz and today it is ring an currently over 1900. I feel the price fall of some 40% in recent weeks has been an over sell the higher grade Gold is still in the ground don't worry it has been there for sometime and will be mined once the safety aspect has been considered. The rest of the mine continues as normal.

Dot -just be aware there is always a reason for a broker downgrading (it is not to punish their own clients) if is sometimes to buy some more at a lower price. You will see negativity also on these web pages for smaller investors. Costs are related to local currency movement as much as anything else. Any increase can be easily absorbed with lower local currency to sterling on costs as opposed to high dollar which helps on sales. Most analysts expect actually Gold prices to rise quite substantially going into the uncertainty of the USA Elections. So fingers crossed here even for the shorter term from a very good entry point in my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own.GLA.

EspecialC - El P is right always go for the safer spread option. I invest in here for some variety and safety, I also cover the other miners too but allow some money to move around according to the economic climate on the day. All shares are cyclical but what with all the USA election discussions touching base I see an opportunity for Gold/Silver to rise. Likewise I move some money around I also cover CPI, and the Banks have done well today (another group of cyclicals) but have invested in the last week into Dominoes (School holidays next week) and lock down home order advantages to them, as well as M&S for food (Ocado deliveries) and Kingfisher on the home working time for DIY? I only see as the Pandemic spreads a slightly lower rating than Marstons should be all being equal based on the Pubs not off sales. I will say I still feel this a very good longer term holding. If Carlsberg bring to the party increased volume for the 60% lost plus the money purchased for the 40% this will help I am sure. I have not studied what Carlsberg bring apart from short term cash from the distribution side. Ralph Findlay has said he will concentrate on the Pubs well that is the sector suffering at the moment as we know but the sector that will come back once a vaccine is out there. For the time being I was surprised how well some of my other shares have been doing especially the Uk banks so perhaps the Uk economy and prices of properties will help shore up the business too. I will also say that Carlsberg in Europe are also buying up a German beer so they appear to have a lot of money from somewhere. Good luck Jed and Pitter P you deserve it.

Marstons as Yoyo, Fairtrader and Barchild have said relies on its pubs - I have always said I am not so sure as they have been selling increased amounts coded as off sales. However the deal is not yet signed and if it is as the so called experts to which I have referred have said then more reliance is to be made for Marstons on the Pubs. I am therefore concerned at the moment with the growing pandemic and tier 3 lockdown expansion and even tonight on the news I see Stoke On Trent being moved into a higher tier so I am concerned and quite depressed with the Virus and hence my weak sell recommendation. To be fair my opinion is changing to the worse of a number of shares not just Marstons. I see some benefit in sitting on my hands for a while. I hope my rating for the time being is not too upsetting. If the virus continues its current path across the Country and /or if the deal is not signed I will increase my rating to a stronger sell. I am not as optimistic as I once was with many shares -sorry, which is why I have kept away Yoyoma but you keep writing if it helps you. For all those with a safer mind set be careful as I have said before.

They see this a potential (I wonder if Barrick do) perhaps they see the results as underplayed and deliberately under 500,000 oz per year so that they keep themselves off the radar as Barrick have actively said they are in favour of consolidation and also for any comps producing in excess of the fig. mentioned. However Barrick might see an opportunity to increase the production and score brownie points with the Egyptian govt. at the same time, and then we have Endeavour - previously stalking us. Maybe they also see this as an opportunity. Either way the CEY management need to be careful but it might explain why they have been buying here too. A great opportunity in my opinion.

Plus Silver price still rising with Gold. Now well and truly over USD25oz.Silver and USD1923 plus Gold.
Profits already should be upgraded further on current prices than when audited.

Every day the news is getting drierier than the weather I am holding in the sweep until I can come back in. I do not feel it fair giving an impression on price to disappoint so many others that have invested their hard earned cash at the moment.
I will be back but I am waiting for events to further unfold.

Agree -still very good profits and dividends that any life or pension fund manager would be proud of form income. Where else will a fund manager get this from Airlines or travel comps? I don't think so.
I also still see Gold prices rising up from here too what with the USA Stimuli boiling up nicely and lets face it we still offer safety here compared to most other stocks. during a global pandemic where most govts will need to reduce the value of their own currencies by central banks acting.
The final thing is the cheaper we are the more likely of an approach. Where was it the new staff member used to work was it Randgold who are now also Barrick? Rumours will no doubt be afoot here I am sure with them also showing an interest in Egypt as we speak.

Ok production targets have been reduced for the time being due to the earth movement on a rich area of the site (whilst it is investigated) an the lower quality of Gold is mined, but the exploration projects look interesting and the Company still produces a lot of cash (with some Gold stock in trade) and no debt. They also still pay a good divi. How many others Companies are producing as much free cash and still paying divis. The safety conscious Company have been most likely over cautious with future production and we have already had a fall from earlier in the year to reflect the movement on site. I now see this as over sold. I am sure the news will become far more positive soon if we can get some support and some new mining blocks awarded to help expand the Gold industry in Egypt and elsewhere in Africa where the exploration looks interesting.

Contd - 4th qtr very positive for further growth and into 2021. As you all say I was amazed by the reduced debt which is now insignificant on cash held. I can see a business for tax reasons would carry some debt but lets face it if they wanted to they could wipe all debt out in one stroke. This business is growing unlike most other miners - great news and I am surprised we are not moving up to be honest quite quickly.
