I thought he has done a great professional job at Acacia in the circumstances by turning this Company around to one that is now generating free cash from one that many said was doomed to failure. I can see Anglo have seen this too. He could have left tomorrow but has stuck with the task in hand to leave Barrick in August. I feel he will want to leave on good terms and I therefore see all of the problems being sorted by then. I cannot blame him for accepting this position as it does appear to be a step up in status I still feel he will drive a conclusion for Acacia first as I say i look upon him as being a professional man with standards.If no deal is done then I can see Anglo coming in here too as after all he knows all about the reserves held under ground!

I can see the Senior Management taking up their share options at these prices. Maybe Morgan S are encouraging a 1.10 price for their own reason. As you have said before BB the reserves in the ground are certainly worth more than the current share price. I have been in touch with the investor relations dept. for a while now and see no need to panic. The framework is in place and the agreement has been agreed in principle with one or two I's to be doitted and T's to be crossed is how I see it.

Have a look at the Chairman and senior Management on Acacia and you will see them as senior Management in Barrick? I feel they well know what is happening. They will have to satisfy the Stock exchange rules however. They also have options. A deal will be perhaps signalled soon by the senior Management taking up their own options? Then it is time to rock and roll.

To be honest the volumes are very low today and so the price could change very quickly, so you did well to watch the price go down like a Hawk.

Maybe this was the reason for the increase, and/or market correction, and /or early release of first 6 month figures? Time will tell but this share still has a long way to go.in recovery mode.

No idea why for the sudden rise today except it may be the results have gone out early to Brokers/ Corporate investors?

The Chinese are the biggest investor in Tanzania for a reason. They also have just signed a deal with Barrick to form a closer partnership on development. People also forget Acacia are investigation and testing in other Countries outside of Tanzania. They will have Insurers against Nationalisation, and the fact the discussions have been ongoing and seen as positive will lead to a conclusion soon. Barrick did refer yesterday in their release to the discussions and so they will want a conclusion soon. The only doubters here are the Shorters. As uncertainty in the currency markets starts to gain momentum particularly in the previous USD safe haven I can see Gold Prices rising.

Looks to me as if there are more buys than sells and dealers need stock. I see no reason for the fall in price other than to try and make those less secure sell.
Unless the shorters are back in of course and then they will have to buy back later.

Yes BB I am in CEY now too as when the vein is through (that is producing a lower content of Gold) they have said they will be into another thinker vein later of good quality stuff later in the year -so another to watch. Come to that what with Boris now resigning the Gold/Silver price might start going up, and so I am also now also into Hochschild.

Big B's, thanks for the update, as I said before there are now more positives than negatives and politically the Chinese do have influence as they are now the Worlds biggest Gold purchaser. I can see a deal being done here very soon as the Chess pieces are being put into place for a "check it out mate" agreement for all the parties involved.

I seem to remember when the composites were held in containers due to the export ban, production from Acacia with the new Business like management in place shifted to emphasis in Gold Ingots rather than composites I can see as the production was down sized on mass to reflect this approach, from October on wards the reports should actually show an increase on last year in sale on production..
So on the report issued today this time bomb is ticking in our favour and in no way will this Company fail. I feel the new management are worth a good star. are certainly will do well from their own options and who after all are either supported or employed by the biggest shareholder "ABX".

I read cash increased at bank, production up on the previous guidance to the upper end of what was forecast. Soon as we start approaching the latter part of the year I can see this increasing further year on year. Gold price up 3.56% year on year.

Big B the whole point is really this is the sort of risk (breakdown in business and confiscation by a govt.caused and for pure political purposes) this would be covered on a political risk insurance and Business interruption insurance is another one that could come into play here, The payment may well be made by Insurers to the Insured to sort the problem which may be why there is a delay. They will also be providing expert advice as they are well experienced in this sort of thing that happens all over the World..Insurers may also be possibly covering expenses and the costs of negotiation as well as Insuring the contents of the containers/ held confiscated and which are prevented from being exported. A lot is contained here that people have not even thought about, I have always felt in the back of my mind that this is the sort of mess Insurers always seem to clean up.
The fact the $300m is delayed suggests to me Insurers are involved and that could be why it is delayed whilst the Policy is claimed upon. Political loss has occurred and therefore this is not a voluntary payment but one of force of negotiation and in my opinion an Insurable partial loss to lessen a total loss -if it helps.
In short it could be Insurers who pay and not Barrick or Aca at all, although they will no admit to having such a Policy because if it is disclosed the Govt will normally go after the Policy limits and if confidentiality is compromised then Insurers will be prejudiced and Insures will seek to avoid the Policy. They will also have a provision to maintain control and this could therefore be another reason for the delay which a settlement is considered/or arranged for payment. If a claim is approved by Insurers be prepared it could well take another month for payment. .
