Staycation and Seacation Cruises23 Mar 2021 20:23
It seems likely that the return of foreign holidays will be further delayed. I believe Saga were originally planning to sail again from May onwards, but they recently put this back to the end of June.
Some of Saga’s competitors such as P&O have already started taking bookings for staycation cruises around the UK. This seems like it would be a great option for Saga. An option that would allow them to set sail and start bringing in a few bob sooner rather than later. Booking demand for P&O staycation cruises this week seems to suggest there would be no problem getting bums on seats and the pricing would be at a premium.
Can anyone clarify what the current position is on this type of cruise from both a Saga and a government perspective. As far as I’m aware, Saga haven’t actually offered this to customers yet? From the government perspective, my understanding is that it is currently outlawed, but that there is a possibility that although foreign travel will continue to be outlawed, domestic holidaying may be allowed again from 17th, May onwards?
