Net Short Discussion29 Nov 2024 12:18
Bob/Beamer, anyone interested: So with the declared short being a net position of the entity involed (e.g. Qube or MW), it seems to mean that the short entity could buy shares thereby reducing it's net short position, without reducing the number of shares/other financial instruments that it was selling short? Have I got that right?
If they were long and short at the same time and increased the long position, then the net short would reduce and, without ever reducing their short position, it could become invisible to us? Would there be any advantage to a company doing that?
