I think £1/share is the absolute minimum for Alpala alone. There is no way on God's green earth that they should get the whole Cascabel concession for that bargain price.

Yes, there may well be some tension there, as the two experts from Newcrest and BHP discuss the best course of action! It can only be a good thing for SOLG.

One of the stipulations was that BHP would have a director on the SOLG board.

What is the reasoning?

They probably want someone in there to have a say in how the thing is progressed and to give advice to maximize the efficiency and potential. But really I think the primary reason is to have someone in there getting the inside track - they want to know exactly what the score is before making the next move...

Back of a fag packet calcs:

Current MRE:

Gold - 12mil Oz (assume AISC $800/oz, $1200 gold) = 12mil * $400 = $4.8bil
Copper - 5Mt (assume profit margin of $1500/T) = $7.5bil
Total - $12.3 bil

Double the MRE and you get $24.6 bil, so yes I think $1.8 bil is cheap for Alpala at this stage. BHP would shell out £1/share, buy the thing lock stock and barrel and be done with it.

Given the action we've seen in the last month from BHP, it is clear to me that if an outright sale of Cascabel were offered to BHP tomorrow, for £1/share, they would snap it up.

But I think NM wants more than that.

The value has been steadily accreting here but it hasn't reflected in the share price. It's like a coiled spring.

They have a progressed a potentially blockbuster antibiotic to the stage of fast track NDA review. That's a lot more than most of these pump and dump pharmas that are struggling through their phase 1 and 2 trials.

The share price should start taking care of itself pretty soon in the run up.

I should add that I have kept plenty of powder dry and will be a buyer on dips. Let's see how this gap holds up. If it holds, fine, but if it drops back towards support at 38p or looks to close the gap at 34p, I will be adding.

I was waiting for the funding issue to be sorted before taking the plunge (i.e. hoping for a discount) - the move today completely blindsided me.

I have taken a chunk on the dip now, paying a signifcant premium for waiting. Now that the funding is secure for another year's worth of progress and in the run up to the upgraded resource, with BHP upping the stakes, I found this too compelling to stay out.

Why sell?! Perhaps because the next placing is due anytime from now.

Before I recieve a barrage of abuse, DYOR - check the cash levels for this year versus last and look at when they last placed. You can be sure they are talking to the institutions already and probably have been for some time.

DIM has a point in that all retail shareholders SHOULD care about is the share price. After all, it's your hard-earned that is slowly shrinking.

I got lambasted for selling at 36p...now if I chose to I could buy back in and 1.5x as many shares. With the current weakness in gold I'm not biting.

Ref my claims that a "claims that a placing is definitely coming" - I believe I stated that my probability estimate of a placing coming before a dividend was 90% (P), 10% (D). Very high yes, definite no. There are no definites in life, which is why it is basically gambling to risk too much of your money on single share - and yes I've been guilty of it plenty of times in the past - doesn't alter the fact though.

The fierce resistance was mainly from K3 throughout that day. The good old Langtro picked up the batton on Saturday. How many days ago was that Troajan?

And then, guess what, I had other things to do over the weekend, which is where the idea of a "thread" comes in handy, as it means that you can continue a conversation, debate or whatever without having to be joined at the hip to a discussion board which many of you on here seem to be.

Surely now that has cleared that up?
