Responding to Gr33 and SIPPm:
Gr33 - the fact that I don't currently own BMN shares (and incidentally am not shorting it), is neither here nor there. It certainly does not reduce my right to voice my opinion on here. It is a share that I watch and may or may not go long or short on in the future. There are many "I'm right/your wrong" masters on here - I'm a novice by comparison.
SIPPm - where did I state those as facts? Everything under the thread "Facts", that followed the initial post (which were exclusively facts) are clearly not all facts - I would have thought that would be patently obvious.
I'm off for now. As always, any subsequent off-topic and unacceptable abuse will be reported.
mcgro - ref. mis-informed - some opinions are so aggressively and repetitively made on this board, that one would be forgiven for believing them! It was in the recent webcast wasn't it? That was the stated source of the information. So, not disingenuous in the slightest.
Absolutely agree that the "delay" will have been so that they could report the "record" current output - they needed something to stop the tank that would have resulted otherwise.
Pb940 - truly it is misleading to go on about annualized rates of 3240mtv that won't be achieved this year (unless by some miracle that the guidance is WAY under-stated...hardly likely) - the guidance is 2800-2900mtv. End of.
Daisan. You have a point. However, I was recently assured by the powers that be on this board, that the Q1 op update was "delayed" to co-incide with the release of the 2019 guidance, which itself was "delayed" so that it could take into account the new acquisition.
Clearly, I was mis-informed...I was also aggressively shouted down for suggesting the Q1 figures might not be that great. Turns out they weren't.
All glossed over though, as the positives are cherry-picked.
Pb940, I can accept the facts; guidance is for a modest increase in output from Vametco this year, compared to last year.
"Record" production is just hype. Average production, that takes account of down time, is what is important. And frankly, if it weren't record production how would you ever increase the output (assuming down time is constant)?!
Shame I didn't take that bet. Pride before the fall:
"Vametco's production for Q1 2019 was 649 mtV in the form of NitrovanTM from magnetite concentrate, which was consistent with Q4 2018 (Q4 2018: 657 mtV)."
Thanks Tucson. Yes, makes perfect sense. The fall last year was a potent mix of profit taking/panic selling, copper drop and short-term thinking (Baim).
The company seems to have a rock solid producing base. I can fully understand investors' disappointment that this wasn't going to be converted into generous dividends - as this would have attracted heavy institutional buying, helping to push the price up (ref. Evraz).
The DJI held up well last week, under pressure. Really want to see it push on next week. If the Dow tanks, everything goes with it.
Thanks for the replies Rastuss and Causal. Have the you, as LTHs, now come round to seeing Baimskaya as a good thing or just something to you have to live with?
Ref the charts. The price is still within the bounds of a very strong support range and a major MA, so I'm hoping it will hold. Depends what copper does, but that too is bang on a major MA too.
I invested a small amount last week based on that and the solid fundamentals at KAZ.
The_shareminator - can you expand on what you mean when you say they have an "enormous resource". The word resource implies drill confirmation using something like a 75m or 50m spacing I think? The actual code compliant resource is not very impressive - rather it is the potential that is "enormous".
Can any of the LTHs explain why the share price tanked in response the acquisition news on the 2nd of August 2018? Was it the issuance of a fair few shares? Did people think that the $900m price tag was too steep, that the money could have been better spent elsewhere? The $5.5b capex a lot to take on? A long road until value is finally realized?
I ask because on the surface of it, it looks fairly decent for KAZ...
I see you mentioned Chartist2 - he's been banned from posting, due to getting on the wrong side of the BMN BB police.
You can still private message him though, if you like
Like I'm going to share that on here! I will say that I'm mainly in cash at the moment, with some carefully placed buy and sell orders.
As you may have noticed, the markets tanked today. BMN went with it. The markets are in a danger zone (DJI near all time highs) - it pays to heed these things, IN MY OPINION!!!!
Talk about false - the chat on here was all about Q1 results being expected by the end of April. And now we're over a week into May, the results have not been delayed! Oh no, it's all part of the bigger picture.
I state that it is a "delay" in the respect that it is over 1 week later and COUNTING than ALL of the other Vametco production reports that the company has issued - that is a fact, not an opinion. And it wasn't until today that you found out that it was all part of the "bigger" picture (i.e. so that they could issue it along with the 2019 Guidance - ha ha, likely story - as if the two need to be linked).
As for qualifying ones statements with "in my opinion", that is ridiculous. Anything that is not pure fact would have to be qualified in such a way.
"No wonder this poster attracts hostility." Fascinating insight into how the bully boys justify their aggressive insults.
Do bring it to the attention of LSE. The more attention the better to what is going on here.
Yes, frankly compass wouldn't dare say it to my face. And that is no threat - it is a simple fact that people have to be more civilised when face to face than when sat behind a keyboard dishing out insults.
